@mickb you would move AD in 2023 for Moses surely.
If not we could give them Simpkin as a 9 and AD to secure Moses in 2023
i think 2024 is a really realistic option for Tigers for Moses

Can anyone point to me where Hastings "vented" to the media about the Tigers.
I have only seen him being very respectful and wishing the club well.
@mercy-rule I think we’re all worried, I’d be worried if Bellamy was coaching, wouldn’t matter to me. I’m worried some of the new players might not play as I hope they might and I’m worried we’ll finish out of the finals again but that’s how it is. Nothing is guaranteed, nothing so we hope what they’re doing will work for the club. The roster definitely needed an overhaul & the club needed better facilities so good on them for doing that. Sheens did something similar when he took over in 2003 and it worked so I hope he can do it again. He might, he might not. There’s a long way to go to find out if the club have got it right so here’s hoping they have.
@celtic_tiger I think it is a long bow drawn by his support for Madge when he got sacked.
Don't think he has come out and publicly bagged the club
@mickb the eels and thier fan base do my head in ! They steal players under contract , basically flat out like eg. matterson , and it’s “just business!” .
they lose players legitimately like Paps , Uto, Mahoney ,now Noses , and it’s “where’s the loyalty “ .
You bozos set the rules by engaging in shenanigans, and amoral behaviour re. Player recruitment and retention .
Now everyone is playing within , those rules , and you’re no longer the preferred choice , it’s nothing but whinging.
And it looks like it was all for nought. They won nothing , and have lost thier spine who they poached from other clubs , with serious questions about thier next 5-10 years .
and I say personally , you reap what you sow . I thought thier behaviour during thier window was abhorrent and disrespectful to the rest of the nrl. If ever there was a club who deserves rock bottom this current itteration of the eels is that.
@garry I would be a little nervous if dolphins get in and sign Dylan Brown as I don't think Parra will lose both, and if that happens they will up the Moses offer.
I think we land this big fish for 2024
I agree I think we need to get him signed ASAP for 24 and then worry about trying to get for 23..
IMO I don't see Brown leaving Eels but if he does Eels will increase Moses offer or they will be a shambles.
Should like Tigers might get answer in the next week so fingers crossed.
@lestronge we shoukd see how Hastings goes at Newcastle I am betting not too well it will end in tears.
Sheens will likely be judged at the end of 2023 with making a good call moving Hastings on
With Ponga outside Hastings I predict Hastings will go very well indeed. I predict the Knights to finish above us. Let’s wait until the end of 2023 season to see who is right.
I think the Hastings/ Ponga partnership could work well, Hastings does the organising and gets the team around the park, Ponga is then creative and dangerous enough to take advantage of that. I still think we needed more from our 7 than Hastings provided and we will be in a much stronger position if we can get Moses over the line which is looking more likely all the time. Buzz has a write up on Moses leaving Parra tomorrow.
Don't miss out on the headlines from Phil Rothfield. Followed categories will be added to My News.
Mitchell Moses has been offered more than $1 million-a-season to stay at the Parramatta Eels.
It is a fair offer considering his influence on the football side and the fact he steered them into the grand final.
He’s also played 198 NRL games, is in the prime of his career, and is probably the number three halfback in the competition behind Nathan Cleary and Jahrome Hughes.
The 28-year-old playmaker has received bigger offers from both the Canterbury Bulldogs and the Wests Tigers.
He is a new father and obviously wants to set himself up for life after football.
But …
What does this say about the Parramatta club?
And why doesn’t the blue and gold Eels jersey mean a little bit more to him.

I remember back to the great Parramatta Eels sides from the 1980s.
I remember Manly CEO Ken Arthurson, who back then had the biggest cheque book in rugby league, offering Peter Sterling a squillion to join the Sea Eagles.
I can remember Ray Price, Steve Ella, Brett Kenny and Mick Cronin fielding offers far greater than what their then CEO Denis Fitzgerald could afford to pay them.
They all stayed.
It was the jersey. It was the mateship. Club loyalty. Team camaraderie.
And it was about winning premierships.
They took less money but won four titles between 1981 and 1986.
There are still examples of this in more recent times.
Parramatta stars of the 1980s took pay cuts to stay at the club. And they won four premierships between 1981-1986. Picture: Peter Kurnik.
Cameron Munster could have earnt a lot more by quitting Melbourne Storm for either the Dolphins or the Wests Tigers. He stayed for the jersey.
Nathan Cleary is the best player in the comp. He didn’t even test the market. He took what he thought was a fair offer. About $1.3 million according to the NRL Rich List.
He actually agreed to take $200,000 less later in the contract to help the Panthers keep their premiership winning roster together.
Again, it was about the jersey.
That winning comps and his love for the club was worth more than his pay packet.
There are more great examples.
Andrew Johns at the Newcastle Knights knocked back the Wallabies rugby union and rival NRL clubs to stay for less cash.
It was all about Newcastle. The town and the team. He couldn’t leave.
Where has the pride in the blue and gold jersey gone?
Ricky Stuart could have left Canberra and become the game’s highest paid player in either competition in the Super League war. He stayed for the lime green jersey.
Even Latrell Mitchell. He’s off contract too yet it’s not being played out in the media.
Why? Because he loves South Sydney and everyone knows he will not leave.
I’m not for a minute questioning Moses’ right to test the market.
But at the end of the day it comes back to what Parramatta actually means to him and what value he puts on the jumper.
Is he not tempted to stick around to finish the job they’ve been building for the last five years?
Does he want to walk away from the game with a big bank balance or a premiership ring and the trophy for the blue and gold army.

That’s the decision he has to make. It’s a tough one.
funny how he fails to mention the previous players who left for money and forgot loyalty (IP, Mahoney)
Still far from convinced Moses will sign with us. I guess I have seen the same scenario play out so many times, where we have been told player X is in the bag only to see him sign elsewhere. When ever there is a ton of media attention around a signingI smell a rat and the rat is usually the players agent forcing his clients price up at our expense.
Anyway let’s hope I am wrong
@888 it’s just a beat up because someone at parra would have promised him a story or future considerations for exclusives and mail to write it .
It’s absolutely tone deaf , and devoid of any real logic . it’s literally an article about a guy parra paid extreme money for mid season , after they originally told a young kid he wasn’t good enough . He’s also extremely fortunate that Moses was put so far offside by Taylor and Cleary that he was even available in the first place .
Anyways . The guy doesn’t even have a journalism degree . Say of that what you will

I think the inference is that Weidler was briefed by Hastings' camp to give him some ammo for the story. Sheens and co evidently declined to comment.
@dirty-reds youre 100% right. Weidler is so close with Sam Ayoub he might even own a share of Ultra Sports Management (but don't quote me on that).
The same article gives an indication that Blake Taafe could be on the move. This is another Ayoub client. When Ayoub has a client he wants to get a new contract for he gets Weidler to give them a mention.
@mickb Blake Taafe would be an ok pick up, would prefer Hawkins but Taafe would be a good addition if we get him for 2023

Yeah that's Weidler's MO - he's tight with a few agents and does their bidding in his absolute embarrassment of a weekly column.
"Declined to comment" or had nothing to counter the assertions in the article? Sheens is a myth. Archaic and blissfully (for him) unaware of it.From CCTW
