  1. Morning all, having a listen to the poddy, 20 minutes in & I’m posting. Didn’t take long did it. Anyway, in regards to the new Ctr of Excellence & whether or not it might’ve persuaded Latrell to come here I would say not at all. I was lucky enough to meet Madge through a competition run by the Fire Up podcast boys & Madge said to us then that he knew at the 1st meeting with Latrell he didn’t want to join the club. The Tigers were used as a bit of leverage because Latrell wanted to join Souths. Not sure if Souths upped their offer or not, probably didn’t matter much anyway. Now, back to the poddy.

I just want to give my own thoughts on the media issue & the impact it can have upon mental wellbeing. I realise professional sportspeople have to deal with criticism everyday, it can actually have a positive effect sometimes but as a supporter, and this is simply my choice, I choose to support. I love that role, it’s my role in the club & I’m proud of it. I think I’m pretty good at it too just quietly (can only shout & carry on at games for about 10 minutes these days before the voice starts making weird sounds but, hey, my kids are probably saved some embarrassment so not such a bad thing). I get frustrated like everybody & I have opinions but I prefer just supporting as I think I can have a greater impact that way. I enjoy listening to you guys because you cover a broad range of issues & it’s all interesting. But we all make choices in our lives everyday & I choose to simply support my kids, family & friends & footy team. It’s not a big deal, just a choice I’ve made.

I’m not the best supporter of the Tigers, far from it, there’s plenty who would be better supporters. But as it’s my chosen role I try to do it well but there are times I don’t. And that’s something I think all supporters could reflect upon. I chose to criticise my own efforts before I do of others. And I know I’m not a paid footy player & my role is voluntary but it’s what I’ve chosen & it’s in my opinion as vital as any other to any success the club might enjoy moving forward. Not many of us can say we have given everything at each game we attend but shouldn’t that be our goal? Do we reflect upon our own efforts each time we attend? I think this is where criticism should begin always no matter what the occasion as we can hardly expect others to improve when we might be able to do better ourselves.
Can understand people disagreeing with this, fair enough, it’s just based upon the standards I set myself, nothing else really.

Great pod fellas – covered lots of ground and interesting as always.

The chat on our chances for the wooden spoon got me thinking about how far we were actually away from a decent season. I was surprised that in addition to our 4 wins, we were equal or led 5 matches at half time, and were down by 6 points or less at half time in another 4 matches.

Round

Vs.

Score

Observation

1

Storm

16 - 24 L

Up 10-4 at halftime. Storm go past us in 58th minute. We miss 3 goal attempts.

2

Knights

4 - 26 L

Never in it. We score in 75th minute

3

Warriors

12-16 L

Down 12-14 at halftime. Warriors get 2 penalty goals. No Hastings

4

Titans

6 - 8 L

2 all at halftime. Titans win on the bell. No Hastings

5

Sharks

4 - 30 L

Never in it. We score in 79th minute. No Hastings

6

Eels

21-20 W

A well fought win! Up 14-10 at half time.

7

Rabbitohs

23 - 22 W

Another well fought win. Up 12-10 at half time.

8

Dragons

6 - 12 L

Up 2 nil at half time. Close but we don’t score again until 74th minute.

9

Manly

22 - 36 L

Never in it. 14 – 0 down at half time. Manly miss 3 goals.

10

Cowboys

12 – 36 L

Never in it. Down 20 – 12 at halftime.

11

Dogs

36 – 22 W

Another win! Up 18 nil at halftime.

12

Rabbitohs

18 – 44 L

We get hammered but were up 18-12 at half time. Souths take 51 mins to go past us.

13

Bye

14

Manly

4 – 30 L

Up 6-4 at half time. Manly take 54 mins to go past us. Naden gets sent off.

15

Dogs

12 – 36 L

Down 12 – 6 at halftime before getting run over. We don’t score again until 79th minute.

16

Warriors

2 – 22 L

Never in it. Down 14-2 at half time.

17

Eels

20 – 28 L

Down 16-12 at half time. Eels score in 30th, 37th , 39th  and 42nd minute. We get 2 late tries.

18

Panthers

16 – 18 L

Down 12 – 10 at half time. Panthers take 75 minutes to pull past.

19

Cowboys

26 – 27 L

We get robbed. Missed 3 goals.

20

Broncos

32 – 18 W

Another win. 12 all at half time.

21

Knights

10 – 14 L

Down 14 nil at half time. No Hastings

22

Sharks

12 – 36 L

Only in this for 20 mins. Down 26-4 at half time. No Hastings

Every team has its sob story but that’s not bad with a bottom 4 roster, getting robbed in round 19, sacked coach, Blore and Talau non-starters, late return from injury for AD and Kepaoa, long suspensions to Hastings and Naden, and long term injury to Stefano, Hastings and Twal.
