The Wests Tigers had it all against them, but after a performance to be proud of, they scored a memorable win over New Zealand on Friday night. Leading 16-10 at the break, the Tigers ended up scoring a convincing 32-14 victory over the Warriors in front of nearly 25,000 mostly Kiwi fans.

On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, we take a look at how the Wests Tigers have changed over the past twelve months.

From a side that was clunky and inconsistent, to a team today that seems so much more confident, consistent, and connected. And this is reflected in the results: since July last year, the Wests Tigers have been tracking at a 50% win rate (something we could only dream of not that long ago).
Joel, Josh, and Declan discuss several key talking points from the match, including:

  • The debut of Tino Tavana
  • Do we upgrade Tino to an NRL contract?
  • The performance of Madden and Doueihi in the halves
  • How our young backline wasn't overwhelmed against a star-studded Warriors back five
  • The really impressive performance of Jahream Bula (does this change his dollar value?)
  • The more efficient use of our forwards this year
  • Where's Bunty Afoa?
  • Our greatly improved defence

While there are also many 'One Word' contributions from the brainstrust that is the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum.

It is so good to bring you another post-victory edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast. We hope you enjoy it!

I’d be picking the exact same team named as last week. But really hone in on our left edge defence. IMO they keep their spots until May is back. Same with the right edge, keep the combinations set ( Taruva/ Skeleton). But I don’t think To’a should slot straight back in though. 2-4 weeks in reggies for mine. The halves selection is the big question when all are available. But a good selection headache to have in fairness. If we win the forward battle it will go along way to a victory. It’s a simple game right 🤔

You gave high praise to Tino Tevana and rightly so. He certainly started off shaky but gathered himself and cut out errors as well as making valuable yardage. A try on debut can't be overlooked either. I wonder how much better he would have been had he got some more clean ball served his way. AD did put 2 over his head and some other passes to him were a but sketchy too.

I really believe he was running to the 20m line for a very quick restart and so the penalty and sin bin was the appropriate response on this occasion, I am sure it would have gone that way if it was one of our players who made the interfering tackle play.
