Why is he nicknamed “Bud”?
He actually prefers to go by the name Bud Sullivan not Jayden, he discussed it in an interview not so long ago and expressed how he wanted the NRL media/commentators to use Bud instead of Jayden.
He mentions it in this news interview at about the 2:23 mark.

Hang on mate. You had a crack at me in a post and then made a claim which was untrue, which I called you out on. I'm happy to leave it here but don't play the victim.
When I see stuff like that video , I wonder how this kid got offside at the dragons .
And one thing I do know about the dragons culture it is very, very based around being one of the boys ie. clubbing down crown street most weekends .
If that’s not you , eg. Hunt , then you can get offside pretty quickly in an environment like that . And if you , god forbid , want to hang out with people other than the “boys” then that can be akin to mutiny .
I experienced it first hand in my 20s in similar cultural environments .
In my own experience , after a while it got to me , so I leaned into it , making things way worse .
I wonder if something similar is going on with Bud, Lomax , hunt etc .
Of all our halves signings, I think I’m most excited about Sullivan. He absolutely tore us a new one off the bench earlier in the season. The eventual halves pairing of Fainu and Sullivan could be elite.

surely this is incorrect. If true the nice again they have gone on a spending spread with no reasoning behind it.

I think they will go well Sullivan has a nice running game and hard to stop and fainu could be anything
