Unpopular opinion but i'm not that opposed to him going if he wants to go. I think he's been our most disappointing forward this year (he was our best last year) and we have a lot of young players ready to go. @Garry tells me the Eels young halfback Ethan Sanders goes well. A swap would make sense to me.

I dont think your opinion is unfounded. I think he had his best games last two weeks when there was a little bit of self belief back in the team, but he is struggling to make an impact.

I think we should be playing him at 13

Given our strength in the back row and front row I would let Joffa go. We have to start giving Matamua more game time at 13 and put pole back into the prop rotation (Matamua can also cover some the backline during a game if needed).

I like the idea of Johnson/brooks halves for 3 years whilst you bring a sanders into NSW cup and develop Large. I don’t think that would be too hard a sell to sanders given how his path is blocked for several years at Eels.

On hunt I think he either goes before June 30 this year such that Dragons can front load and clear cap and roster for next year or he stays until the end of his contract. Once the new coaching staff is confirmed that will have to be their first decision. I probably agree that bulldogs are likely more attractive that tigers at this point but I wouldn’t rule out the roosters plugging him in to do a Cronk role for a few years and move on Walker to QLD. Definitely get the feeling there will be movement in the next 6 weeks.

Matamua isn't ready.

Imo you only let joffa go if you get Sanders as a swap.

I reckon it's a deal that makes sense for everyone. Sanders gets a pathway to first grade, Joe gets what he wants and one of our young blokes gets a shot.

Sanders 7 and Luke at 6... interesting

more chance of getting Sanders than Johnson you would think.

Joe hasn’t been great this year so if he goes so be it but we need to make it worth our while for a mid season transfer

Can't remember saying Luke at 6. I believe you're the only one saying that.

@avocadoontoast could see Brooks with a haircut and 7. Hunt 6. Brooks

he won't leave dragons anyway so probably doesn't matter.

if you want anyone at 7 for 2024 then Kyle flannagan is around mate

Brooks best is not good enough to play 1st grade for us.

You won't get that through his head, he sees Brooks at $500k a good deal, to me Brooks at $1 million or Brooks at $200k is still a waste, when we all know he can't get the job done at any price

@the-last-ronin get a 7 like townsend Brooks can easily play the 6 role for 2 years until Onitoni Large is ready

But what does he bring to the table as a 6?

I’ve always been on the fence with Brooks and thought he would have a great season this year however that hasn’t happened. He’s come up with the odd good play and 1 top shelf game the rest has been poor. He’s had every opportunity to show he can be a serviceable half and hasn’t been up to it. I’m genuinely interested in what people believe he brings to the team because I just can’t see it moving forward.

good on him getting to 200 games it’s a great achievement.

He brings nothing to the team, and 10 years and 200 games will back that up, re-signing Brooks at any price is just complete madness, every single variable has been changed or removed for Brooks to come good, the only piece that hasn't is Brooks himself, and that is the move we should make

I think Joffa will be a huge loss to our forward pack as Sheens doesn’t seem to have much faith in our younger crop of guys at this stage.

Blore and Matamua are constantly over looked for the likes of Seyfarth and AJ as our bench rotation which I think is very telling.
