The embattled Tigers have suffered another blow with English club Warrington slamming the door on any approaches by NRL clubs to sign star halfback George Williams.
With the lack of a match-winning halfback the biggest of the Tigers' many problems, the club was believed to be set to make a play for Williams, who had a highly successful stint at Canberra in 2020-21.
But Warrington boss Karl Fitzpatrick told Wide World of Sports there is no way his club would even consider releasing Williams - even for a fat transfer fee.
"He is signed with us until the end of 2024 and we are actually in discussions about an extension," Fitzpatrick said.
"We rate George very highly and no way will he be leaving us any time soon."
Much-maligned Tigers halfback Luke Brooksis coming off contract at year's end and the club has yet to decide whether to re-sign him or move in a different direction.

onto plan 38.
Gee wiz that’s similar to my record, that does include Balmain games too though.@avocadoontoast we havent kicked off yet, can you please wait until after the game Avo ?
We may yet win you never know 😉
Well we're due, we haven't won a game for an awfully long time. My daughter is 8 months old and we haven't won since she was born.
My 7 year old enjoys coming to the games so he can cheer on the other team. He’s been to 20-25 live games over his life and they have never won.
Just remember it was Benjamin that said in an interview ‘I’d love to coach Luke’ and I hope he re signs. Eating his words right at the minute I’d say.I think Brooks will be re-signed for 2 years announced on bye week (i think it is pretty close to being done, no idea on salary though).
2024 we go after Wighton
2024 spine
1. Douihie
6. Wighton
7. Brooks
9. Api
are you borrowing from previous Pom posts or do you have separate sources?
Benji won't bet his coaching career on Brooks Im sure of it. It doesn't matter what the Sheenius is saying right now because nobody in the club gets re-signed past 2024 without Benji's sign off.
On a good note and depending how you look at it Bula has appeared on the WT website Team list.

If the door has closed on Williams then we are in big trouble. There's noone decent coming off contract for next year.
I'd be trying to get Mitchell Pearce over for 24 (and possibly 23). All he has to do is direct the side around and kick on the last. Promote Bula and give him the rest of the season to make the fullback position his own. Go to market for a quality 6. If Wighton is the best available then get him. We have the funds to get Pearce and Wighton comfortably.
We have the bones of a really good side, let down by a horrible 1/6/7. We replace them and we are a much better side.
@avocadoontoast the door was never even open on Williams let alone an opportunity to close...
@avocadoontoast they were never entertaining a transfer fee for Williams
Welsby will meet with the same fate unfortunately
Next stop maybe Dodd but again we will lhit transfer fee hurdles I reckon

Did someone from Warrington tell you that?
no but in the media they have said they are not interested in a transfer fee
reckon Lewis Dodd ends up at Canterbury replacing Kyle Flannagan, he has signed with SFX and Ciraldo is one of the coaches managed by SFX. Probably cost 600k to 700k to sign in NRL dogs would easily have the cap space.
He would be good to get but don't think we are a snowflakes chance of signing him tbh
maybe they have upgraded him to top 30 spot.On a good note and depending how you look at it Bula has appeared on the WT website Team list.
