I would take media comments with a grain of salt. Only parties that would know would be WT, Warrington and Williams.

I don’t think Pearce is much faster than Hastings but he’s a far better player imo. Heaps better passing and kicking game.

We are still low in mature leaders in the team. If you add Pearce to Bateman, Api and Klem - we start to get a leadership group that would push this group.
I would say of you add Pearce we become a team capable of pushing for 8-10th
Given where we are, we probably need to take a step by step approach. We are both more likely to attract new talent if we are 9th rather than 17th - and we are also blooding out younger players into a better environment if we are 9th than 17th
