Personally I don’t see the logic in this, waste of a position in the top 30 we have more then enough centre’s. Probably another Player manager trying to up his client’s value.

Our priority should be a quality fullback and wingers.

@garry No he’s not. My guess is he’ll sign for similar to what he’s on now for maybe 2 years (Dolphins, now having missed out on Brown and Munster might have a crack) then see where he’s at in terms of wanting anywhere near the $1 mill being talked about. He’s just 24 and his next 5 or 6 seasons should be his best especially if playing one position not many injuries. Still time to cash in.

I’m not sure Bennett is a Doueihi fan.

He’s a good player, I’d like to have him, but $ need to be very reasonable imo.

this would be a weird signing after locking up Naden who is also a specialist centre. There needs to be some room for juniors/train and trial players to come through. If we move on Ken then maybe that creates a little more room but I would be focusing on everything on marquee now. We have built the platform up front, now we need players who can make use of it

@tigertownsfs think Brooks will take a restructured type deal to end up a one club player and be coached by Sheens

As for AD he is in a different spot this contract needs to be a good one for him. Still think uncle Wayne will come knocking at dolphins if he wants to play 6

deep down I would love to cheer on a successful brooks era. He has stood by the club , tried his guts out and had so much crap go on around him. I would love for sheens to rebuild him as the super talent he seemed at the beginning of his career. I guess we’ll find out soon enough

Lets be clear, Brooks didn’t stand by the club. He stayed because the Tigers paid him huge sums of money despite consistent poor performances on the park and no one else offered him anything close.

The narrative that he was somehow too loyal to the club to the detriment of his career is risible nonsense.

What did other clubs offer him?

I should have qualified this by saying in my opinion but I’m fairly certain I’m pretty close to the mark.

It was pretty widely reported that he took a pay cut (from his previous contract) in 2018 to stay at the Tigers.

Thats interesting since he signed his current deal in 2018 reportedly worth 1.1 million in the final year.

My mistake, 2017. A $100K hair cut. Madge obviously bumped it up in 2018.

Again, we have no idea what other offers were.

What excites me most about the way we are building our squad is that the class we have in our 25yr+ players in key positions means the younger players can move into a team that is competing, do their role and develop rather than just being thrown to the wolves and never heard of again or having to go to another club to rehabilitate their careers. As far as I know the juniors we do have are talented but are all still very young and a lot had to go right for them to make it to become consistent first graders. In the unlikely event that we can pick up a Moses and RTS who are mature players in key positions is that you can fill the gaps around them in the squad and create the conveyor belt of talent that Penrith have been able to achieve for sustained success. If one of the young ones is are star then you bring them into a starting role and recycle the older player out. We haven’t had a system like that really ever at Wests Tigers where you had a rolling period of new talent coming through to support sustained success (arguably this may have happened in the 2013-2016 period if sheens had kept hold of the big 4).

The shell of a team like the below gives you lots of capacity to bring youth through the outside backs, back row and prop rotation whilst the core team doesn’t skip a beat

1. RTS

2.

3.

4. Naden

5.

6. Brooks

7. Moses

8. Klemmer

9. Api

10.

11. Bateman

12. Papi

13.

@celtic_tiger

. Brooks bashing is lame is all I’m going to say . Not because I’m a fanboy , but because it’s all been said before , and is every 3rd page on the other forum.

Hes nowhere near as bad everyone says . And on the contrary I don’t see anyone saying he’s a top 5 half . He used to be circa 2020, not anymore .

But if it’s brooks or Hastings , then im pro brooks 1 million times out of a million. As 90 touches where you turn it back into the middle , take a non threatening run , and can’t kick it 50m ,turn style defense,  is not my idea of a good half , however great you are at  yelling  at your teammates and directing a side .
In fact I’ll go as so far to say , a lot of your directing and straightening of the attach happens at dummy half as much as at first receiver , and we Now have the best dummy half in game .

As for the AD stuff . I don’t know what you’re talking about and I don’t see the relevance at all rather than “but he said it too” type mentality .
Constructive criticism is welcome and is really good for debate , which is why AD has a lot of mentions at the moment .
I just don’t see how anything can be said about brooks that isn’t rehashing old ground , and is adding anything to the conversation .
ita not you I have an issue with , it’s this e whole phenomenon in general .

Criticism of any player is normal and expected part of a public forum with free and open discussion I would think. I have been probably one of the more frequent AD "bashers" here but like to think it is objective criticism of his defence/efforts (lack of chase or energy)/lack of passing game. I think if people criticise Brooks (or anyone) on his ability/game management/decisions under pressure/kicking game then that is fair game on a forum for discussion of the team and players.

Its when Brooks is criticised for his commitment to the club based on something completely imagined that it starts to get into the territory of an agenda or vendetta and IMO is unhealthy for the forum and no shortage of other venues for that discussion.

I might be completely wrong and happy to be told to get back in my box, but so far, it is one of the things that I like about this forum.

To be completely clear, I dont think Celtic or anyone else has overstepped any imaginary line here, but just IMO.

Parramatta middle forward Nathan Brownis set to resume contract negotiations when training returns next week, with an immediate exit looming likely.

Brown has amassed 109 NRL games for Parramatta since joining the club at the start of the 2017 season, earning a New South Wales debut as well playing for Australia at the international Nines, before captaining Italy at this year's World Cup.

While he's been a mainstay at lock for the Eels over the past few seasons, the form surge of Ryan Matterson in the middle has pushed Brown out of the equation, playing just 14 first-grade games in 2022.

While he's off-contract at the end of 2023, head coach Brad Arthur has reportedly given the forward permission to negotiate with rival clubs effective immediately for an early release.

While Canterbury were originally thought to be favourites for his signature, it appears the Wests Tigers are set to continue their signing spree by nabbing their former Under 20s back from the Eels.

Brown debuted for the Tigers late in the 2013 season, in the same match that Luke Brooks made his NRL debut, however the lock forward would depart Concord for South Sydney at seasons end, while Brooks has remained put ever since.

The Daily Telegraph reports that Brown and Wests Tigers head coach Tim Sheens were spotted having coffee in Strathfield last month as negotiations continue.

The move could also shape as a way of drawing Mitchell Moses back to the club, with the now-Parramatta duo still as close as they were in their days at Leichhardt.

While it's an experienced loss for Parramatta, Brown is reportedly on close to $600,000 per season, freeing up salary cap to try and extend Moses, whilst allegedly  plugging their hole in the middle by offering Martin Taupau a contract for 2023.

The Wests Tigers still have two open roster spots following John Bateman's signature, and it's looking more and more likely that Brown will be returning home sooner rather than later.

That article says we still have two open roster spots, Im pretty sure we only have 1? Pretty nervous filling it with NBrown. Would prefer to leave it open for a while to see if someone worthy pops up.
