The Newcastle Knights are still interested in luring Luke Brooks away from the Tigers after meeting with his management.
The Daily Telegraph’s Michael Carayannis revealed on NRL 360 that the Knights are not giving up on their prime No.7 target.
The development comes as the Tigers confirmed their interest in Cameron Munster, which has put the future of Tigers’ No.6 Adam Doueihi up in the air.
“Where does it leave Luke Brooks?” Braith Anasta asked on NRL 360.
“With a migraine,” Paul Kent said.
“Poor old Luke Brooks he is a weekly event in the news cycle.”
Carayannis revealed the Tigers are keen to keep Brooks, but that hasn’t stopped the Knights trying to lure the long-time Concord No.7.
Please, please take him. Pay him overs whatever, just get him out of here.
I agree, just get it done. Give Laurie a go at 6 and play Hastings at 7.
Just got to make sure Hastings re-signs, if so I’m happy for Luke to move on.
I have no real argument with this, however IMO Hastings and AD both have inferior kicking games to Brooks (hard as that is to get your head around)

Only at times. Some of Brooks kicking this season has be awful. A big difference between his good kicking days and bad kicking games. Very happy for him to be gone. No doubt he will succeed elsewhere, too much baggage around his neck here. He’s been a major disappointment and not the half we need going forward.
If Brooks leaves the the pressure on him will ease for a little while but if he doesn't find success quickly, it will be relentless.
Might be an unpopular opinion but I am starting to have some sympathy for Isiah Papali’i. He’s still fairly young with most of his career in front of him and I’m sure when he signed for the Tigers he had no idea the shambles we would become.
The club gave up on last year and looking at where our top 30 is sitting at the moment we seem to have given up on next season too.
Api Korosau is in a different position as his contract will probably be his last but a move to us for IP is a potential career killer for him. I know we have him over a barrel legally but I can fully understand him trying to get out of his contract.

I think it’s an indictment on how the club under the current administration sells itself that hardcore fans could even entertain these kind of thoughts.
Pascoe has no idea how to sell a vision, or build confidence externally (and most likely internally).

Totally agree, standards at the club have been allowed to deteriorate to the point where there were multiple performances this year, Roosters, Sharks, Raiders etc which were below what should be acceptable in a professional sporting organisation but there seems to be a culture at the club where these performances are accepted and excused.
How we change this culture I have no idea but is not going to be quick or easy so I can understand why players are running a mile from signing for us.
I also agree on Pascoe, I have no idea why he is still in his role given the step decline in standards under his watch.

I agree with you. The club really only has its self to blame if IP finds a way to renege on his contract. Terrible management.
This still has a long way to play out. At best he’ll be here in January, at worst he won’t be here at all and I would not blame him one bit.

Agee.
The players performances and standards are a mirror reflection of the management performance and standards. Something Lee just doesn’t understand.

I dont blame IP for not wanting to come. I love the club but if I was a professional player I wouldnt want to play for us. We need him to come though and we should not be giving him an easy out.

The bigger question for me is where will his head be at if we force him to honour his contract and come here and will he be fully engaged and committed especially if we start the season 1 and 5.

Three years. if he wants a career he will get on board.

I've said it a million times, he's too much of a lightweight for this role. We need a bit of a brawler, someone who will take control and run things properly and have the gravitas not to be messed with. Pascoe isn't that guy.

I wouldn't want to come either. Imagine being one of the best second rowers in the comp, about to hit your prime, and you have to go to the spooners. He received terrible advice from his management to sign the deal with us.
However, he signed a contract so he's resigned to the same misery as the rest of us. At least he gets paid for it, and can leave at the end of 3 years, unlike us.
From the Pom's post yesterday I feel like the likely scenario is Brooks will be re-signed, Hastings will move on at the end of '23 (to play 7 at a rival club) and AD will probably leave if he gets a good offer elsewhere.

I can actually imagine a scenario where losing Hastings and AD is a good thing. Yes they are two of the best players we have, but they are not elite in their positions and I'm not sure they are the ones that are going to take us to the top again let alone the top 8. For us to truly change our destiny i think we need to think bigger.
Of course I can also imagine a scenario where we lose AD & Hastings and replace them with Jacob Arthur and Jack Cogger...so there is also that.
