So is kade dykes meant to be our starting 1 next year? Surely he doesn’t come here to play reserve grade. Where does that put Laurie?
@tigertownsfs I suspect that the club wants to upgrade the back up fullback spot. I don’t think Laurie has a mortgage on the jersey so some competition will be good for his own development. Dykes can also play 6 as well which is a bonus.

Good grief... Staines has played a total of one good game - against us.

I think that is more coming from his management than the club.

I know nothing about Kade Dyes but people suggest he has ability. Having Dykes and Laurie as options at both fullback and 6 is good news. Brooks may be the odd man out but he could be a good utility (ala Milford, Hunt, Connor Watson) and would provide some spark against tiring forwards.
Update from the Pom:
Quick Update:
Coaching:
Club had a zoom meeting with Kristian Woolf a couple days ago to purely gage his interest in being our coach, wasn't a lengthy meeting but all round positive response from both sides. John Morris has also been directly spoken on 2 occasions.
The club has had to applications put to the club via the Walker Brothers Management & Dean Pay's Management, neither of these are looking to be explored.
In relation to Shane Flanagan he's not entirely out of the equation but his aggressive background media push has made the club extremely cautious not to mention his previous indiscretions.
A left field name that has been discussed is Jason Ryles, but doubt he'll leave the Roosters.Recruitment:
Charlies Staines - all the noise about him is purely from his management & we are just being used to get his name out there to see if any other takers will come into the fold.
Kade Dykes - As you can imagine everything went sideways with this, he hasn't committed to the Sharks at this stage, management waiting to see where we land with a coach.
Jordan Miller - We seem to have done enough to keep this young man with us for the future. 3 Year deal will development next year & top 30 in 2024
Brandon Tumeth - Well into discussions to keep him around, almost certain to be in top 30 in 2023.
Hastings & Doueihi - Sheens has been in constant contact with these 2 & made it very clear to the both of them that they are future leaders of this club, had lengthy 1 on 1 with them & cleared the air over recent events.
In relation to filling remaining spots for this years roster by August 1, we only need to fill 2 out of the 3 available, as Luciano was released in June under NRL rules we aren't required to fill his spot & don't have to allocate his money for the 2022 season, this can be rolled over into next years salary cap.
If true there are a few positives in this. Good to be hanging onto Miller, Tumeth and the roll-over of Luci's funds.
Probably most positive for me is "Sheens has been in constant contact with these two" because in the past our communications have seemed to be very poor. And Sheens is the right guy to be talking to them.

That's probably true, but I don't get the negativity on Staines coming to a struggling club like ours. He's a jet, good hands, knows how to find the line, taller and heavier than Daine and he's only 21 with plenty of upside.
No wonder the club has an issue with culture when we’re chasing a player like AD out the club.
Local junior who is clearly passionate about the jersey and gives 100% in every game but hey he’s not the best five eighth in the comp after half a season so too bad Adam, see ya later.
I mean we have so many players who care passionately about the club so I’m sure he won’t be missed.
He left the club once. Not sure how you can judge his passion...he's only here because souths gave him the archer.

I don't think anyone wants him to leave ...but if he wants 700 k + ...it is a no .....but he isn't a 6
At Cronulla, the club has announced that back-rower Briton Nikora has signed a three-year contract extension which keeps him at the Sharks until the end of 2025.

Pole is the player we hoped Mikaele would be. Absolutely fantastic game and that’s borne out not just in the eye test but in the game stats. Easy to see now why we let Mikaele go and used his game time to promote quality youth.
I also thought Stephano had his best game of the year and approached his form from last year, really hitting the line hard in offence and made so very aggressive tackles on his opposing props.
musgrove had his best game for a long time but as always with him it’s consistency that is the issue. Perhaps he is aware that he is playing for his future now that his sponsor (Madge) has left.
papallii is a fantastic player and had incredible levels of effort in both attack and defence. Looks like the type of player that lifts those around him by doing the extras.
the forward pack is looking young and strong next year and with Api guiding them through the game there is a lot to be excited about.
by all accounts Blore had a fantastic offseason before his injury. If he can come back as a starting 2RF and some of the young depth develops over the next 6 months then there might be enough talent already for 2023 in the forwards. We really need to sort out our 1, 6 and 7 and invest the cap there if there is opportunity.

I would like on more prop (depth) and one more good 2RF. Maybe Tumeth fits the bill?

Tiger5150 the only one I’d remove from your list of forwards would be Seyfarth his another one that needs to be moved on.
Jordan McLean is off contract. Sheens spoke last week regarding the need for good experienced players to help the sprinkling of youth coming through. I know Tamou would be helping but seem to me McLean, a similar style player, would be an upgrade given he’d come to the club with less games than Tamou did when he came & a year younger. Not sure what his situation up there is regarding his family, kids & school etc but think our pack would be pretty formidable with him there. Seems a good person & Sheens also alluded to having to have good people. Could add to building the kind of culture & values we need.
