@joel The talent is already at the club …manage it properly and use it ! The non talent is the people running the place …

I'm okay with signing these experienced players. It will add to depth, strengthen some areas and not cost too much in the cap. (Hopefully)

I also wonder if signing more experienced players may be designed to take the pressure off needing to replace some assistant coaches for next year.

@tigertownsfs You can not go into the preseason with AD training and projecting into the halves next season , this IS the disaster he is next years blow up ! I do hope he moves on but doubt that will be the case he thinks he has the up on the club and coach over his dummy spitting …he needs another position otherwise it will get ugly all over again .

Also need for any halves pairing for next season is our cat forward pack to pull their fingers out imo

I’m very happy with experienced depth. Even if they spend half the year down in cup that provides a solid base to bring our talented kids through the grades. We should want the magpies to win the nsw cup every year

@natmac78 I do not see the relevance with hiring 33yr old retirees as a reason not to remove assistants that are failing in there job with experienced replacements . Maybe hiring these burn outs is a cover for the current coaching staff that have no idea or Experience to be able to deal with the younger crop of players -2 examples Latu … Makasini the coaches can not even teach these younger players tackling technique . How long do you think these 2 will be on the field next year they both lead with there heads obsoletely no technique where is coaching!!! Anyway the consensus seems to be to fill the depth chart with burn outs my view is bring on the younger talented crop and get rid of the coaches ! Time to bite the bullet blocking pathways with geriatrics just invites bottom 4 finishes for years .

I think, when I look at the side next year, we will have the following players in the mix with less than 50 games of experience:

Tupou

Makasini

Latu

Andrews

Roberts

Haywood

Sukkar

Tavana

Possibly Saukuru

A player like Mann could be an addition for experience and depth, but only if the price is right and just one season.

He also needs to be the only other new addition in the veteran category.

I thought the same thing regarding the experience problem back on page 1280. Brailey/Mann type signings help, but they aren’t the solution to making the 8. I agree we need better coaching depth, with talented people from successful franchises - HBG need to kick the can for that if the WT budget is short.

100% HBG need to open their wallets. Truth is, they just don’t love this “bastard child”. You can see it in so many ways that they have no pride in or love for Wests Tigers.

@snake So true. Marshall has seemingly created, or been allowed to create, a club culture of comfort and complacency with minimal care for results or how those results impact us; the fans. The Mann signing, should it happen, would be another example, in my opinion.

The tide is turning slowly .. I have spoken to a few of the old magpie brigade and they are fed up with what’s happening at the Tigers and there grievances are aimed at the top , this season seems to be ruffling feathers there certainly are a few that are not happy !

All power to them. However not sure how anyone outside the tent can have meaningful influence given the debenture structure.

Tele reporting we’ve opened negotiations with Saukuru for 2027 and beyond.

Fair to assume we’ve changed our mind on him.

For anyone who has wondered why it has taken so long for Saukuru to get his debut, he showed why today. You have to play on both sides of the ball.
