The difference between winning and losing is very small in today’s NRL. For example our decision to play across 5 home grounds some years has cost us wins, spoons or top 8 births. It’s not right to say that it’s just the the NRL team environment that matters. It’s everything from the ball boys to the owners. This is why we are destined to stay an also ran in this competition.

You’re probably missing the number one component - more 💰 equals more wins

I think it’s the difference between consistent success & failure, yes. Many things need to be right for that to happen and that would start at the top. I do think, however, that it doesn’t necessarily have to be the case to experience a good year of on field performance. That would come down to the strength of the squad, the ability of the coaching staff to improve players & game plans, the ability of the players to implement the game plans, some luck with injuries etc and general improvement in areas that might’ve been lacking the previous season. If that takes place then there should be improved results. It’s not guaranteed, nothing is, but the odds shorten if that’s the case.

In 2005 we caught lightening in a bottle. Absolutely we could do it again but we all know what happened next. What we need is not a successful season but a successful culture and club.

I do think we need a successful season, as well as successful culture & club. I think most fans would, if given a choice right now, take a finals birth over HBG out if they were the two options given to them. Many, it seems wouldn’t take the finals birth and would prefer HBG out and see the team miss out again and, to me, that’s a real shame. I see my main role is to support the team, the players & the coaches, not so much the Boardroom. I have an interest in the Board etc but my knowledge is more suited to the football side of things. So my view is that a successful season could kick start some prolonged success as the monkey would be off our back however I could be wrong.

I think if we are successful on the field (consistently) then the HBG losses power (meaning it is harder for them to justify knee-jerk reactions).

Can we get to that point of consistent success with them pulling the strings is the question and we might know that answer in about 6 months.

Unfortunately HBG ownership will always be unattractive to current/potential players (Bula ‘may’ be an example) and provide unnecessary disruption to constant progress/improvement (as shown possible by 12 months of the independent board) for wests tigers. It’s sad but proven over the last 10 years.

@joel Are you ok? that latest reply is unusual in a few ways. Not of your usual standard. Gremlins in the system??

@joel I would suggest if we are successful in the first 6 months HBG would suggest it’s because of them and they would become more emboldened

Yes, but equally they might be less likely to mess with it! 🤞

Bears didn’t watch a replay of Luke L’s last game against Roosters obviously. He was woeful that day. Not big enough and shaky under the high ball.

I hope he stays in NSW Cup for us this year.

I like Luke. I think he shows a lot of potential but we have a few ahead of him in the pecking order and he has had a few head knocks already. I hope he has a great career.
