I wanted Gardner when Teflon took over and was laughed at. He would have been the perfect fit after doing  an apprenticeship in  cup and his relationship with the team environment. Will probably be the bears coach mid season after Mal quits 😜😆

Since Sheens (first stint), no coach has ever made it much past 2 years with the club. All sacked and one left by choice. The Tigers could potentially hire and fire another coach within the space of Marshall's current contract. I think they will stay with Benji for next year just based on the length of his contract and the enormous payout it would be.

I think most likely WT thing to do is to make Benji quit. Take away his control etc until he walks out. He’ll then sue the club, costing more in the long run than just finding a settlement. That’s the calibre of senior management we have. Fortunately for them it isn’t their money, it’s funds from running a pokie den that could blossom with a bunch of monkeys at the controls.

The club could do worse than consider if Shane Flanagan would join as a senior assistant. It’s something Flanagan is open to. Whether Marshall would accept it is another thing. He has the legal right to tell the club to shove it.

Very funny article in general, basically from the mouth of Isaac Moses to the masses. But this paragraph takes the cake.

A Flanagan homecoming would warm the hearts of some of the Magpies dinosaurs.

Well, that comment sort of nails your colours to the mast, Joel. So it's the Magpies mob who are the cause of this? Not HBG; but the Magpies contingent of HBG?  Would you like to elaborate? Perhaps tell us how you view the performance of the Balmain HBG personnel.

BENJI’S STRIPES CHANGE

There was an expectation Benji Marshall’s coaching staff could be in for a shake-up at the end of the season, and it now appears a fait accompli after the Tigers’ collapse this season.

Despite his close friendship with the Tigers’ 2005 premiership winners who are on his staff, including Brett Hodgson and Chris Heighington with Pat Richards as football manager, it’s almost inevitable Marshall will have an “outsider” as part of his set-up next year.

The Tigers used the bye week to take stock after the Adam Doueihi saga and expect Marshall to sound out some candidates soon.

From the telegraph.

I think the club would be stupid if they did not appoint Michael cheika as coaching director of first grade and pathways. Current set up in not professional enough for mens first grade or pathways

@mr-anonymous-26 Marshall shouldn't be sounding them out. Thats should be the CEO's job to determine a short-list and then Marshall could be part of the final decision making.

However, two points: 1. Marshall has presided over such a calamitous season that interest to be on the short-list would be in very short supply, I suspect. 2. The article is from the Telegraph so it's almost certainly fiction rather than fact.

@mercy-rule GM of football ( which we don’t have)) should be the one making all of these decisions imo. Benji will pick one of his mates again. Like you said it’s from the Telegraph more likely bs.

Is he available? I don’t think he’d come cheap!
