@frullens you’re talking as though we’re moving up the ladder. We’re 2 from 10 and have conceded 72 points over the past two weeks. That’s not the direction I want to be heading.
Fair enough -
those 2 games we could of played better - the 2 games before we won both
If you look at a bigger sample size, this year we are conceding in averaging 23 points a game. Last year it was around 30 points a game. That's improvement
The club had their opportunity to sack madge at the end of last year.
If you're still keen to sack madge - I would firstly be impressed with how he's getting the team to play for each other with a depleted squad
but if I was in the board judging madeg, I'd want to fairly judge him on how the team goes with a full squad. Which he hasn't had all year.
Don't you think it's best to judge him at least at the end of the year?
Until then, fair enough identify areas for improvement, praise areas of strength, enjoy the games and not call for madges sacking every week.
You think bulldogs are now in a stronger position than us?
If it was up to me I’d be sacking Madge now, I’ve seen enough over a fairly long period now to come to the view he’s not the right choice for us. Happy to be proven wrong.
I don’t think the Dogs are in a great position but I also think Barrett is absolutely hopeless. He’s even worse than Madge.
This would have to be the most ludicrous thing I’ve heard in a long time.
How does having this proven drug cheat as your coach in anyway shape or form a benefit WTs?
I think it’s a proven fact there are some people in the media that have been pushing their personal agenda of try to get Flanagan a job back in the coaching box, Slothfield being one of the main instigators.
You nailed it.
I can see why Madge may entertain a move to the dogs. He is under the pump here and his job is not safe, could even be sacked in a few weeks if the team does not win. A move could guarantee another two years of work for him.

He’s contracted here till the end of 2023. Sacking him still guarantees him almost 2 years pay anyway

I thought there was some performance criteria in that final year contract year ie we can get rid of him if KPIs aren’t met.
You make a good point Eastiemagpie makes a good point - if Maguire does get sacked by us it could be difficult for him to get another job.
Taking on that Bulldogs roster with Mahoney and Kikau coming in could also be attractive.

Yeah I have no idea about performance clauses or the like. Smart move by the club if that is the case.
It got brought up again on 360 last night ...but then again if you didn't get linked to the role you would probably feel left out ....even Payten and Stuart were mentioned
Why not offer Barrett an assistant role if he is so rated by so many NRL players and they will follow him to the ends of the Earth ??
Flanagan is a "no" from me.
Changing coaches is always a huge moment for an NRL team, and this decision is our most important for some years because it is clear there is positive change happening in the squad instead of band-aid fixes. The right decision must be made this time to keep on this path.
If we do move on from Madge the next coach needs to be the perfect fit - literally should tick every box - otherwise we shouldn't go with a risky decision. In my mind the only coach who could be available and would be ideal is Ciraldo. It was speculated that he knocked us back last year, and has supposedly knocked back the gig at Bulldogs.
He is apparently waiting for the right appointment (Fitzgibbon style). So my question is, can we become that right appointment for him?

Seems to be a few assistant coaches in this world ....Ryles ...Ciraldo etc ...when it comes to the crunch all up their is only 17 jobs out there and of those about 6 aren't changing anytime soon
If you thought that highly of yourself ..wouldn't you back yourself

Seems the older blokes don't have an issue with backing themselves. But the new generation coaches seem to prefer to try and future-proof!

What is Ciraldo waiting for ? He won’t be coaching the Panthers any time soon. He may never be ready if he waits too long.

That's right, surely he has to back himself sooner or later. I still reckon he's a chance for the Dogs.
