Garner is a big loss. He has played really well this year and seyfarth (despite his passion for the jersey) lacks impact and is liable for a stupid penalty or two. Give tumeth a crack!
Brooks Out.
Not good to see someone injured who's name isn't Kyle Feldt.
But we do get to see what possible AD, Madden, Hastings combos can offer.
Besides the issue of having one of our halves out for the rest of the season, its a shame because a decision needs to be made on which 2 we keep and based on last week I felt Brooks had more to show this year.

I’ve been in the cut Brooks club all year but he had a sensational game on Sunday. Was looking forward to watching him for the rest of the season.
I wouldn’t be playing Madden. I’d be playing AD and Hastings in halves and putting Joe back to 13.

It will be interesting to see in what direction the club goes if Brooks is out for the rest of the season.

Whilst I agree, I think they are set on trying to keep Jacko as the ball-playing lock.
I listened to an (old) Brydens podcast with Sheens last night, from before Madge was sacked, and he said the modern style for many teams was to play one half on each side of the field. He said Tigers (at the time) were a bit different to that because Hastings was getting many touches and Brooks is fast enough to swing to either side.
However I think it's pretty apparent that with Jacko playing the middle, Tigers are going with Brooks left and Doueihi right, with Jacko really marshalling the forwards and taking the odd hit-up. And given that we are still low on forwards troops but we've competed up the middle with Parra, Penrith and now Cowboys, it seems to have merit.
Which then puts Madden on the left and you leave Doueihi where he is.
It also gives 3 kicking options, so they aren't just swarming Brooks at the end of every set.
I think there's something to it and I think it's also somewhat novel, because it certainly puts the defence in two minds.

You may well be right. I think the 3 halves strategy worked really well last week. The only concern I have is Hastings durability in the middle. He was our top tackler last week and i'm not sure he'll be able to do that week in and week out. I guess there's only one way to find out.
Brooks injured his calf probably out for rest of the year
Usually crap from foxsports about potentially heading to Newcastle and maybe played last game for wests tigers.
They are saying Jock Madden to 7 but if he is not in the plans for 2023 then surely Hastings to 7

Yeah I don’t understand that logic why have they got such an aversion to having Adam and Jackson in the halves????
@tigerlily only reason I can think of is they genuinely want Hastings as a 13 and he needs time at 13
if they slot Madden in to 7 knowing Brooks will be there in 2023 it doesn't matter
Also keeping douhie at 6 helps hom get game time and work on plays

The aversion is there speed they are both slow. You need a least one to be fast
@yanni agree in principle but we should be using these rounds to at least give that combination a try.
Everyone is jumping to the conclusion that Hastings and AD are too slow. Yes I agree that they wont win a footrace but there are plenty of other ways to win a game:
- Good decision making
- Good kicking game
- Keeping the defence in two minds by carrying the ball out in front with two hands
(these are all things that Brooks never does)
It would be interesting to see jock get another 4 matches to make a final call on his future. If he can do something of value in the final rounds he could win a spot for next year at Brooks expense.

I agree. I never like seeing players get injured but this is a perfect opportunity to experiment through the remaining training sessions and matches.
I don’t understand why you wouldn’t play Hastings douhie in the halves. It’s almost as if the club wouldn’t want it to succeed
