The Daily Telegraph reported Bulldogs General Manager of Football Gould was snapped at the airport meeting with Fonua-Blake and his managers Tyran Smith and Ahmad Merhi on Friday.
The meeting came a day after Fonua-Blake met with Wests Tigers officials, while he is also set to take a meeting with the St George Illawarra Dragons.
Recruitment boss Scott Fulton reportedly met with the gun prop at Haberfield Rowers on Thursday in a meeting that could prove crucial to the merger club’s recruitment bid.
The SMH is reporting Scott and his late father Bob were critical figures in Fonua-Blake’s arrival at the Sea Eagles after departing the Dragons in the early stages of his career.
The 28-year-old is seeking a return to Sydney on compassionate grounds in 2025 to be closer to his parents and family who are based in the Harbour City.
Gould admitted earlier in the week that Fonua-Blake was definitely a player of interest for the Bulldogs but he conceded he would be expensive.
“Addin is a quality player,” Gould said on SEN Afternoons with Jimmy Smith.
“I spent a little bit of time with the Warriors during COVID and got to see Addin first-hand – he’s a quality player.
“He’s not cheap, though. I’d imagine there’d be a lot of interest in Addin.”
Gould got to know Fonua-Blake during a brief stint as a consultant for the Warriors during the COVID period and is a big fan of what he brings to a team.
The Bulldogs desperately need some reinforcements in their pack after losing Tevita Pangai Jr to boxing and Luke Thompson to the Wigan Warriors in the Super League.
Fonua-Blake has three years remaining on his mega deal with the Warriors that has made him one of the highest paid players in the game.
However, Fonua-Blake reached an agreement with the Warriors that 2024 would be his last season in New Zealand before returning to Sydney.
The race for his signature appears to now be down to a three-horse race between the Bulldogs, Tigers and Dragons.
It remains to be seen if the Warriors will have a say in where Fonua-Blake lands or if they want compensation in the form of a player swap.
The Bulldogs have room in their salary cap after missing out on signing former Roosters premiership winner Sio Siua Taukeiaho due to a failed medical over a foot injury.
Gould is also trying to offload club captain Raymond Faitala-Mariner, who is on around $800,000 a season and was told to stay away from Bulldogs pre-season training.
Fonua-Blake is keen to lock down his future, so he can focus on a premiership tilt in his final season with the Warriors, who made the preliminary final last year.

I have massive issues with his past behaviour.
I wasn’t aware of his assault charges until someone on here mentioned them. I don’t in any way condone what he did. However the incident did occur in 2015 and he appears to have grown since then and hopefully has learnt to be better.
The Wests Tigers have stepped up their interest in Jarome Luai after holding another meeting with the Penrith superstar aimed at securing his signature.
This masthead understands Luai met key Tigers powerbrokers on Tuesday as they continue a concerted campaign to convince the three-time premiership winner that he should choose the club over staying at the Panthers.
It is understood the Tigers tabled a four-year-deal worth in excess of $4.5 million for Luai late last week. Their offer is significantly more than the Panthers can offer the Samoan international, who has entered the final year of his deal with Penrith.
The Bulldogs are also believed to be monitoring the situation and it is understood club officials have held talks over a move for Luai.
However, the Tigers are believed to be more advanced in discussions with Luai as they look to tie up a deal for the 26-year-old before he returns to preseason training with Penrith at the end of next week.
Under the NRL’s new contracting model, Penrith will get confirmation from the NRL of the Tigers interest once Luai gives an indication that he ready to accept the rival offer.
The Panthers will then have 10 days to convince him to change his mind. It is understood negotiations have not reached that point yet, although the latest meeting between the Tigers and Luai could be seen as an indication that both sides have a genuine interest in getting a deal in place as soon as possible.
Luai is currently undergoing rehabilitation for a shoulder injury that he carried through the closing stages of the NRL season.

Saw the barber chair and ran
This is unrelated to all current recruitment negotiations, but I just watched a reply on Fox of a 2019 game v Penrith. We lost 9 - 8 in Golden Point but interestingly Alex Twal (starting prop in #10) appeared to be the only player on the team in that game who will take the field for WT in 2024.
Just an observation really.
The story says Penrith would let Luai go now if they get Klemmer and Galvin.

Just wait until 2025. No need to give away decent players.
