I rate Luai as an elite player, I don't believe his only talent is playing with Nathan Cleary, as some do. He would make us a much better team. He does polarize people, including me, but I don't have to be his mate or even like him.
He talks up his success, told a crude joke at a wedding and took the bait from some internet trolls. I would have an issue with us signing Matt Lodge, but don't really see the fuss in us signing an Origin player at the peak of his career.

Klemmer being shopped to pay for Luai.. I do not get the hype for this guy if he also kicked at a high percentage maybe . This is going to end in tears and is going to be a shocker of a signing IMO all hype ! That money is ridiculous..

Regarding Luai and this offer - has anyone on the board paused to consider the fact that Latu Fainu and Bud Sullivan are signed to 4 year deals? You don't sign back up players on 4 year contracts.
Luai would be crazy to join WT. This story is probably a ploy by his manager to flush out other interest.

@mickb Just another example of individuals with no idea , panic has now well and truly set in ! As you have said 4yr contracts for the other 2 halves …what type of thinking decides to pay another 1/2 $1mill a season before you even know what the other 2 might offer .
@helmesy Do agree very poor season but I suppose the 750k for another few seasons at that output is a worry . I do not know why Nuffie has not been shopped aggressively as reserve grade beckons for this guy .. you would think ESL would appeal to him ATM before the realisation of reserve grade blues.

If he goes we’ll miss him. He was our most productive middle by far. Unless we’re using his money to get an elite prop we’ll be stuck with Twal and Seyfarth in the 17, which is a total disaster.

We've continually been told by Pascoe and Lee that we are finally in a fantastic cap position.....but have to release our most consistent performing middle to buy Luai........when we didn't even replace Ofahengaue....Really aggressive recruitment Lee 🤦♂️
