I think Sheens was playing that with a straight bat (given he's technically still under contract) rather than dismissing our interest.

The club is definitely interested but there is a belief he wants to head back to Queensland as he has a farm up there.

2 years with us and he could get a bigger farm. No one could pay him as much as us.

we are too similar to dragons he won't come to Tigers no way seems like he wants to have a crack at a premiership if he stays in Sydney or he goes to gold coast to be with family

@jedi-tiger after reflecting, you’re right, he won’t come here. He wants away from the drama so there’s little chance he’d join a team led by the two biggest drama queens in the business.

What are everyone’s thoughts on Jake Averillo?

Seems likely to be pushed out Dogs.

I like his speed, has a little ball playing in him.

Worth a chat I reckon.

We were speaking with him but I thought I heard he signed with the Dolphins last week.

Another heavy loss for NSW cup today. I've been wondering why we haven't blooded Feledy and co a little bit more in that arena, but it seems like a pretty terrible environment at present, so probably for the best.

Former Wests Tigers forward Joe Ofahengaue has opened up on his departure from the club, revealing he never wanted to leave but was forced out just months into a three-year deal.

The Tongan international has settled in nicely at the Eels but it’s foreign territory for a man who just last year won the Kelly-Barnes Medal as the best player at the Tigers.

He collected the award hours after he inked a new deal to stay at the club because he could see a bright future despite the Tigers claiming the wooden spoon in 2022.

“I don’t want to go too far into details, but everyone knows I didn’t want to leave that club. Sometimes you’ve just got to read the room. I just put my best foot forward and backed myself to come here,” Ofahengaue said.

“I don’t think it was that hard when it wasn’t really my choice.

“Everyone knows how passionate I was about that club. I signed three years for a reason because I wanted to stay there to be a part of the changes that were going to come. Things changed, and what happened was out of my control.

“It was a no-brainer for me to come to a club that really wanted me. I’m so grateful that I get to experience this locker room.”

The decision to release Ofahengaue was a strange one given he provided invaluable experience to a forward pack full of emerging stars who looked up to him.

It’s why there were emotional scenes at Leichhardt Oval when he crashed over for a try in his final game for the club before making the move to Parramatta.

“I felt for my mates because they didn’t deserve for me to leave halfway through the year. I didn’t think I deserved that either, but sometimes you can’t control things,” he said.

“I’m just glad that the club wanted me here and that allowed me to bring a positive out of it.”

It’s been a hectic few weeks for Ofahengaue, who was rushed into the Eels starting side to take on the Cowboys just days after he’d played against them as a Tiger but lasted just 10 minutes in his Eels debut before he injured his calf.

He’s back to full fitness now and punched out 30 minutes off the bench in the big win over Manly, although he admits he still needs to learn the team song.

“I’m just glad I got to play more than 10 minutes,” he said, paying tribute to Eels coach Brad Arthur for believing in him.

“My first game was disappointing because I came off early with an injury.

“I’ve been around long enough to know that things just happen and you can’t control everything, but I promised Brad that I’d do everything I could to get back as quickly as possible.

“I was happy to get through a good chunk of the second half because I wanted to get through some work and test out the calf.”

@helmesy it’s a weird one. I don’t get why it had to be a mid season move if we haven’t replaced him or used his spot in the top 30. He would have found a suitor in the off season if we wanted to move him on.

I also think the decision to push Joffa out is weird, but the only logic I can muster is that Parra offered to pay full freight and its quite possible that that offer would no longer be there at the end of the season.

That has to be the only logical explanation. Unless the topic is 2005 it seems the club is once again reticent to share info with the fans around these types of decisions.

With Joffa being pushed out, I would expect to see a few contract extensions of the young guns coming.

This club is so frustrating. It can't get out of its' own way.

Whenever things look to be on the up, they shoot themselves in the foot.

@helmesy I think Joffa's departure has got more to do with Parramatta than it does with us.

Here is my logic

- Joffa joins the Eels in the same week Moses re-signing is announced

- there was a huge delay in the Moses announcement. Isaac might have promised to throw Parra a few sweetners as part of the Mitch Moses deal eg Joffa

I don't think WT would have gone out of their way to get rid of Joffa but I reckon Isaac would have floated the idea of releasing him to our management who took the bait.

Isaac Moses currently sitting pretty because so many NRL coaches are in his stable

Payten

Seibold

O'Brien

Shane Flanagan

Conversely Isaac is on the nose at WT because he didnt deliver us Mitch Moses and now we are screwed.

If Brooks plays NRL next year and not at WT it's highly likely to be for one of these Moses aligned teams.

brooks to dragons might be an option for him if hunt moves on
