@avocadoontoast wakeham is ordinary mate Hawkins would be better than him as a 7. No problem trying Laurie at 6 but give it a few more weeks and we will see how he goes. You may see Brooks and Laurie in the halves by raiders game who knows
@avocadoontoast lol cmon man haha
it’s true, he’d straighten up our attack and wouldn’t mess everything up. Brooks is the worst half playing in the NRL today.

Wakeham is terrible but he’s better than Brooks imo. I’d be going hard for Hawkins and Taafe for next year.
@avocadoontoast no he isn't mate geez. as for wakeham he can't defend for starters played well off the bench for 15 mins against dogs that is it. Brooks and Laurie I think are a big chance of happening in a week or two
The cap is only there to stop clubs going bankrupt, it’s doing its job. It’s not there to spread the talent around.Wighton going to Souths is a great example of the NRL salary cap/CBA not working remotely how it's supposed to.
It simply wasnt. It was brought in after Canberra sent themselves broke winning two premierships and it simply was not intended to provide parity, the player draft was brought in at the same time to provide parity.
Yes that was why Quayle brought it in initially. Remember the game was almost semi-professional back in those days - at least compared to today.
After the draft was deemed illegal and the NRL took over post SL wars, parity was very much a desired outcome and something the system was partially designed for. Unfortunately it was rather half-arsed, and didn't keep evolving, so we ended up with a mish-mash of different strategies that pleased no one.
It's since got even worse, and I imagine will continue down that path with the current, questionable leadership.
Chad Townsend could be an option for 2024. Reports say he might be on the outer at the Cowboys.

Flanagan also dropped for this week. If the young half performs I would expect we get Flanagan on mid season deal, even if for just remainder of this year

As bad as we’re going I don’t want Flanagan Jnr.

In memory of Geoff Chisholm (1965-2022)
You left out not wanting Flanagan snr either.
Lol would you rather Flanno Snr or Jnr? You have to choose one.
“Manly assistant coach Shane Flanagan is trying to get son Kyle to the Sea Eagles in 2024 in a bid to revive the halfback's career.
Flanagan, 24, is coming off contract with the Bulldogs at the end of the season and is unlikely to be re-signed.
The Sea Eagles are considering bringing him in and moving veteran Daly Cherry-Evans to five-eighth, then shifting the giant Josh Schuster to backrow or centre.”
LOL, moving DCE to accomodate Flanagan.
