@tiger5150 I’m not disagreeing with you . I’m just offering an alternate view to the same outcome . It’s more to do with the guy who doesn’t understand why it’s not included .
I understand and Im not arguing with you either. Im just bring it down to its most basic components because the other stuff (with respect) is irrelevant and just complicates things. If you extend what you are saying, that the RLPA wouldnt accept it....why not? Ultimately because it is not salary and the player doesnt benefit from it. It cant get any more straightforward.
If transfer fees are outside the cap, why would a club ever carry residual salary from players that they have moved on. For example, why wouldn’t we just have paid St George a transfer fee for Moses and then not have to carry the difference between his Tigers and Dragons salary in our cap?

Because a transfer fee is paid to the team releasing the player as an incentive to release them. The residule salary is included in the cap as the club is still paying the player a contract owed to them.

Ok, it has been mentioned elsewhere so I think I can get away with saying it publicly. Moses has knocked backed the Dogs and has a meeting set up with the Tigers for this coming week.

You cheeky devil. I don’t owe you a pie by the way.Ok, it has been mentioned elsewhere so I think I can get away with saying it publicly. Moses has knocked backed the Dogs and has a meeting set up with the Tigers for this coming week.
Apparently someone on the Dogs forum has got the scoop that Moses will be signing a five year deal with the Tigers.

Who knows if that’s true but I was always of the opinion a 5 year deal at around the 1.2-1.4 mill a year would be our best chance given his circumstances. Whether or not that’s too much to pay nobody really knows until the results are in……..if it’s true.Apparently someone on the Dogs forum has got the scoop that Moses will be signing a five year deal with the Tigers.

Well I hope the 5 year deal gets it done.
There are many Tiger fans unhappy with it on the other forum but for a decent goal kicking halfback I’d be happy.
I usually try and stay positive about things that the club does (I'm a sucker) but this is too much money and too long for a contract. This can make the club look even dumber than some of the stuff it has done in the past. They must not see much in any of the young halves in the club.
I hope this is the start of halves being paid this type of money due to the bigger cap because he is not worth more money than every other player in the game. Not even taking into account his horrible history with the club
@helmesy I don't think it is a 5 year deal I think it is a 4 year deal, pretty confident Moses will be here in 2024 however from what i got told through a player manager (not moses) doubtful anything happens until cba sorted with nrl.
My feeling is land that big name spine player (in this case Moses) by offering a longer term deal such as 5 years.
The short term we get better on field performance, and better pulling/retention power in recruitment.
In the long term, either he keeps playing well and happy days, or he declines and we find a way to sort out he situation like other clubs (medical retirement - souths, retirement with club role - bulldogs, move to other club - roosters).
Just land him.
