I’d def pay $1m for Brown
Trouble is there are probably 8 other teams that would as well and all of them more attractive than us. We might have to pay overs to make something like that stick
Brown imo would be the easiest one to sell a vision too, I think I could almost go in and sell it to him.

What are you doing this afternoon?
I’m not buying the theory that players take considerably less to play for a Bellamy or for the ‘structures’ at the better clubs. If indeed true, then the players are doing themselves out of some serious cash for their futures post footy. There will be scenarios where the elite may take less eg; for a post football position or to create a legacy or to grow their brand to work in the media etc etc but these scenarios only work a select few. For the majority of players, taking less cash to play at successful clubs is a fallacy, they surely could not be that unintelligent.

Yeah they take less money on the books, but there’s a lot of other ways to get people and their partners under the table benefits and perks. You’d have to have your head in the sand to not see that this happens. Cars, holidays, meals, jobs, etc etc all outside of the auditor and the tax department’s view.

Considering he is in the UK then it would have to be a chat over zoom lol.
At the moment he plays second fiddle to Moses, you tell him we are going to be a very attacking team and that if he signs that he will be the focal point of that. We will build the team around him, that Benji (his idol) is all in on him and wants to coach him and grow his game, he can be the Benji in the return of the True Wests Tigers. Then you make him a very good offer.
I really believe he is gettable for the club but I think it would take selling a vision and I think that is something that our club does really poorly.

@cloudyglock welcome from another recent migrant on here.
All getting all bit crazy and irrelevant for me on WT Forum.
I still read posts over on the other forum but it’s getting worse all the time. I have used the “Ignore” button a few times when people get too disrespectful or outright rude.
I’m too old to get into continuous tit-for-tat posts. People like Cloudy Glock are rubbished for giving their views so no wonder he has walked

I agree but I also think we shouldnt get down to their level and getting into bagging them (not having a crack at you CQ). Lets just let them get on with driving a once good thing into the sewer and we can just enjoy the community we have here.

You've sold me
From Fox Sports…
Maguire has since been linked to the Knights job if Adam O’Brien is sacked, while he could also take up a role as an assistant to Ricky Stuart at the Raiders until a head coaching post becomes available,”
I don’t know how keen Brooks would be to team up with Madge again…but could a Hastings/Maguire be a Knights option?

Yep, that is my point, players are paid outside of the cap. I just find it amusing when I read a player has accepted significantly less to play under a specific coach or club.
@helmesy Hastings to Newcastle more likely than Brooks I think.
Certainly if Madge lands at Newcastle no chance of Brooks going there

You can add shinny new teeth to that list. Join the Rooters and the entire extended family can receive complimentary dentistry, family barbecues will never be the same.
@eastiemagpie I think it’s obviously put out by clubs, and agreed to by the players, so the club is seen to still have more room in their cap. The Salary Cap is probably not that hard to manipulate.
Anyone know when Sheens is back?
Everything has gone quiet once again and pre-season starts in three weeks. Hopefully a couple of deals are done in October.

What’s happening with Gildart, I was expecting him to look elsewhere (back to the UK?). Took a swipe at the club when he joined the Rooters, a stint that didn’t eventuate into anything, and failed to make the England squad.
