Kennedy is a good player but one of the 7 & 9 have to be the best player in the team to compensate if he isn’t the best in the team which he isn’t. Brailey is probably their best player and they’re making prelims arguably without any superstar type players so pretty successful. AFB could be considered a superstar but in my mind he’s more a top class middle.Agree with this. Imagine Cronulla if they had a better fullback or 7 with real x-factor. They would instantly be contenders.Yes, I was having a conversation with a friend a few weeks back about the importance of a top class fullback. I think a fullback is probably 3rd priority to a game managing 7 and a 9. But your best player could be any of those 3. I’ve almost come to the belief now that a fullback and 9 are of equal priority, just behind the 7 especially due to the increased speed of the game.Tedesco (Dally M) and Walsh (Clive Churchill medal) show the impact and value of a classy fullback in modern rugby league.
Bula is classy with the potential to be great with a stronger squad around him. He MUST be retained. Whatever it costs.
We need to keep Bula, I don't want us to have to settle for a Kennedy type quality fullback, we just go backwards.
I was thinking about the “not big enough” point and I look at Cotter, Talakai & Papali’i who are all very good middles or impact middles and of the same physical stature of Kit. I doubt the 3 of them debuted before 20, they may have at 21 but haven’t checked. I believe 2026 will tell us a lot more about Kit and his future prospects.@russtutty63 sorry mate I respectfully disagree.
Talented players but Kit in particular is not up to it. He may have improvement in him but he’s nowhere near big enough for first grade.
Luke is now behind Makasini and May for the foreseeable.
If we could replace the brothers with 2x NRL players with 100+ games each, then suddenly the rest of the squad is looking over their shoulder.
Just checked when they debuted and they did at about 19 but didn’t really establish themselves until 21 or so.
The Rabbitohs are reportedly eyeing Storm forward Tui Kamikamica as a potential signing for 2026
🔹 Kamikamica is off-contract and has turned down an offer from Super League side St Helens
🔹 The Storm can only offer a minimum deal due to salary cap pressure
🔹 Souths have emerged as a leading contender, but would need to move a player to fit him in
🔹 The 31-year-old Fijian international is open to staying in the NRL (DT)
what on earth are we doing…..

Either we are working on this quietly in the background, or Richo/Benji's idea of roster management doesn't align with ours... hopefully the former!
I'm sure Richo and Benji are well aware of who is on the market and who might potentially become available, if they are not interested in Tui than he obviously does not fit into the dynamic of the team they are building...it could also be a matter of keeping their powder dry to snag a bigger fish. The Rabbitohs are reportedly eyeing Storm forward Tui Kamikamica as a potential signing for 2026

Wests Tigers Podcast - Talking everything Wests Tigers since 2018!
@joel Brown over 30 and a has been yep fits right in with the Tigers recruitment policy .. honestly this club is just frozen in mediocrity ! 😂 Seriously has the club got talent scouts surely in this country the pacific or even in GB there are younger hungrier guys looking for a start in the forwards … but oh no dredge up yesterday’s past !

I actually think we are at the point where if we could get someone like Brown on VERY low $$$ its not a bad signing. We need depth and we cant just keep signing top teir, we need a balanced squad.

For 12 months I’d take Brown over Bird.

I think people are holding onto the past decisions too much..
We have one of the youngest top 30 in the game and swapping Bird who is around the same age is a very smart move. Brown on less money and would have the impact off the bench that we lack. It's only for the 1 year we had Bird anyway.
Richo has not made many errors with recruitment so far and has not overpaid either.
So, if we do not exercise the option in Bula's contract by Nov 1 he goes on the market....is Richo confident that no other club will offer him what he is on and he will therefore take up the player option at lower $$, or perhaps sign a new extended contract. Whilst I don't think he is currently worth $900k, we are a much better team with him in it, and he has yet to reach his ceiling which is probably over $900k......im glad it's not my decision to make.
@lorenzo I think the problem is the 900k just pushed the decision down the street for another 12 months . So is it worth talking to him now to resign or paying him 900k which is way overs for one more year then he leaves anyway !
@joel I disagree had enough of losing , Brown gives you nothing a couple of hard runs of the back fence and that’s it . If the club does not sign a couple of aggressive types in the forwards that can play decent minutes next season will be ground hog day because you are not playing any longer than 60 mins a game once again . Honestly I can not believe anyone would want Brown but that’s my opinion !
If anything, we know Browny can throw them hands lol
It's only a swap deal lasting 12 months
