Adam Doueihi is poised to accept a revised two-year deal with Wests Tigers now trying to find the salary cap money to retain Charlie Staines, Brent Naden and Reuben Porter. Doueihi's imminent retention and the recent arrival of Mavrik Geyer from Penrith and young Ethan Roberts from the Sydney Roosters has put the squeeze on Wests Tigers' salary cap.

Daily Telegraph

Staines is going to Catalans it seems: https://www.alloutrugbyleague.co.uk/news/catalans-dragons-close-nrl-champion-1315104

The rest of that doesn't really make sense. Signing Geyer and Roberts on flyer contracts isn't going to change much. Porter isn't even on a top 30 contract (and can't make the starting 13 in NSW Cup), and there won't be much of a market for Naden if we do want to retain him.

Sounds like DT BS/clickbait to me. Makes no sense.

@dirty-reds to me it would be the cap within the cap. Ie. you’re starting backline would probably be around 2 mil-2.5, you’re spine around 4 mil , middle rotation , so 5-6 forwards , around 3 mil , edge back rowers probably 2 mil. That’s like 17 players for roughly 10 mil . Then , depending on where you saved money in those groups would determine how much you can offer squad players . This is where the roosters kill it , because they can give Joe blow 130min wage , and a cap free 70k  car and rent free low interest apartment .

@jedi-tiger Andrew’s , Robert’s , Geyer , and a new middle plus the Lualiii brothers especially Luke will be pushing really hard I think . As good as Skelton has been Luke , is extremely powerful out of yardage , and has a knack for finding his front . He may be vertically challenged , so it will probably be a week by week proposition / he will platoon with Skelton , but yea , he’s as good as To’o was at the same age . Very very comparable .

Looks ok, but the bench needs more forward thrust imo.

On Doueihi's current from, it's a good signing. We need much more of that over the next 2 years though. It reinforces my impression of Doueihi as being his own man. Supposedly took a lower amount ($100K per year?)  to stay at WT. It's a massive kick in the guts for Flanagan at the Dragons who were desperate to get him, it seems. Fantastic, just what he deserves.

im not happy with this pack/bench. Latu needs to be starting 7 and our bench needs to be 4 impactful players who are genuine top 17 in a top 4 team.

Seyfarth is a no, twal is last picked on the bench and we need a genuine 14 option not a kid learning a position or a qld cup player.

we need the A type predator to lead and complement Terrell. Pole and Sione are good enough. Still some work to be done
