I've read the big wraps about Haywood. Is he of "islander" background? If not and, heaven forbid, if Marshall is still head coach, he may well go the way of Galvin, TDS and (possibly) Doueihi.

Pretty myopic view IMO.

To the extent it matters, Haywood is not polynesian and BENJI is the one who signed him to an NRL Contract until 2028.

Sorry to double respond, but just to draw a line under it......

Under Benji Marshall the following players have also "gone the way of Galvin, TDS and (possibly) Doueihi"

  • Isiah Papali'i
  • Junior Tupou
  • Stef Utoikamanu
  • Shawn Blore
  • Onitoni Large
  • Solomona Faataape,
  • Justin Matamua,(possibly)
  • Brent Naden, (possibly)
  • Charlie Staines, (possibly)

Struggling to see any correlation. Can you?

The whole pacific islander thing is exaggerated, yes, it is likely we would have a higher percentage as our coach probably attracts players with that background due to his shared background, high profile and success; it is also related to the high percentage of players in our junior catchment area that have PI heritage.

Galvin was agitating to leave before Benji took over and with TDS it was a timing thing, we don't want to lose our inspirational leader and him seeing out his career at our club is important from a player morale perspective and also to help kill the stink that the club developed in the way they treated robbie and Benji towards the end of their careers. Api came to us when we were at our worst and gave the fans some hope and also busted a gut to help improve the team, I support the extension, even if he is playing a lessor role in 27 and 28 when Haywood should be ready to transition.

Api is an absolute legend for what he did coming to us when we were at our lowest ebb. He is still a top quality 9 and we have a succession pathway there for when he leaves. TDS was best mates with the Dog and there was clearly a poisoning of that relationship when Galvin decided to blow things up on his way out. TDS will play first grade but I don’t think he has shown yet he is an elite rep level player in that position. Mostly it was the Tigers blowing smoke up the proverbial because we were trying to show we were a development club on par with the panthers (this was propaganda). Goodluck to the bloke but it wouldn’t surprise me if he fails either

I'm a little upset that an opinion I have raised on here before went unnoticed until now. I thought my well-crafted, thoughtful posts on here would be remembered by all. But, apparently not.

I remember them, but can only address them as they arise. What other response would you consider appropriate?
