I like the idea that a player shouldn’t be to earn more than their current contract until the original contract ends. For weak clubs like WT it creates too large an incentive for a player to agitate for a release if they don’t get what they want. TDS and Galvin should be here for 18months more on their current deals helping the club off the bottom and repaying the over investment made by WT as a development club. Instead they get to sign an upgrade and run away. The players have a call option that only they can exercise, whereas the club is stuck with any contract that is overvalued (all money is guaranteed even if the player is loved on).
This would be in court 30 seconds after it was suggested. Restricting someones earnings? that is why we have money being paid legally outside of the cap.
If you wanted to keep TDS the answer was dont let the rookie coach plan the roster.

i doubt it could be challenged. All im saying is that they should be held to the contract they signed, just as the club is held to the contract it has signed. People say “the clubs do it too” when they want to get rid of a player but the thing that is never emphasised is that the club still pays all the money to the player on the way out. It is asymmetric that a club has to pay out an underperforming player but a overperforming player can walk away from their contract citing mental health/poor coaching etc. clubs like the storm, panthers or bulldogs then collect players on unders because players want to win a comp and our role as a feeder club remains locked in.
Young hooker Jared Haywood will join the Top 30 roster from 2027 onwards.

Doueihi to Dragons can happen yesterday as far as I'm concerned. He will be no loss at all to WT. That said, without the (alleged) dust up with Marshall at training, he probably would have been the Captain this week with Twal now being the least worst option to take on that role.

AD is a talented player and has done really well to fight back from injury but I don't know if he is culturally the right player we need to turn the ship around. Has previously demanded that he plays in the halves which is not a long term option at least at WT.
Nevertheless, I am disappointed he was not made captain this week and I think that was childish by Benji. His long kicking game is still an asset to any NRL team so I think he would add value to the Dragons roster.

He’s done remarkably well to come back from his injuries, but we don’t need him in the halves next year and require more speed in the backline.
