Yes, but the new teams will, should prioritise the spine. They’ll need some good centres & middles as well. The list I provided gives 10 or 11 edges off contract 2027. Kikau, Curran, Blore, Koloamatangi, Fermor, Fifita, Niukore, Sua, Chrichton, Lemuelu, Talakai are 11 of them. There are not that many middles. Obviously their current clubs will try to extend most of them before November. But their current clubs will also be prioritising other players as well coming off contract, the Storm have 3 of their current spine free to talk to clubs November, The Titans have to upgrade Kini, perhaps Campbell & maybe one or two others. I doubt they’ll keep both Fifita & Fermor. I’d expect them to prioritise Fermor. The Sharks won’t be able to offer big money to Talakai because they have others to prioritise etcUnfortunately 25,26 & 27 will be difficult years for all teams trying to retain or sign players with the new teams coming into the comp. All players will be thinking ‘pay day’ has arrived.
I agree but guys like Kikau & Chrichton are nearing the end of their careers but could still offer something 2027 & 2028. Players are playing for longer these days it seems. Fifita might be looking for a change. Offering Kikau or Chrichton a 2 year deal for decent money or trying to blow other clubs out of the water by offering a big deal for Blore or even Lemuelu for example might work. Does Blore want to come back to Sydney at some point? Chrichton could provide experience & mentor Godinet. I think these are all valid options worth looking at.@tigertragic56 This is where clubs with a large junior base and good pathways should be ok ..yes they can be poached but these new clubs want established players off the bat for the first few years .
I actually think we would be a decent chance at attracting Kikau to the club. The Dogs have Preston, Curran, Tupouniua, Salmon, Hayes & Todd as well right now. Kikau has a Fijian connection at the Tigers & his combination with Luai when at Panthers was great. He’s also won Premierships with Luai & Api. Perhaps a few of the boys could convince him to come to the club 2027. He mightn’t be as good as he was a few years ago but he’s still a top class edge. The Tigers might stick with Samuela on the edge & look for a middle instead but this is another way they could go.
Samuela can play middle
AD called into origin squad...Daley must be taking some great hallucinogen's

has Daley been taken for a HIA
absolutely ridiculous lol
no to Api
No to May
Here’s a pretty long list of middles off contract next year. Compare with edges off contract 2027.We will hopefully strengthen the squad for next year with a couple of signings, KPP & May most likely going by reports. But let’s say we have $1 million or so to spend for 2027, which is possible depending on what Api & the club decides. I think both off contract after 2026. Here’s a list of possible targets for 2027 & players who could be difference makers.
Payne Haas
Kikau
Curran
Mahoney
McInnes
Iro
Talakai
Farnworth
Fermor
Fifita
Garrick
Koula
Grant
Hughes
Papenhuyzen
Blore
Coates
Purdue
L Henry
L Smith
Sua
Humphreys
Gray
Koloamatangi
A Chrichton
Nawaaqanitawase
S Wong
Capewell
Niukore
RTS
If you were going to target one who might be the difference between top 4 and not who would you target? I’d go Haas, Farnworth or Koloamatangi as the Storm guys are unlikely to leave except Papenhuyzen. But Haas would be the one.

So does the club try to get one of these in or move Samuela to middle & look at an edge for 2027? Using Sukkar & maybe a guy like Lisati to play left edge next year.
Or would one of these middles be enough & we leave Samuela in that edge?
I am so over this Galvin BS. Our club gets treated like absolute crap by the media, player agents and the rest of the NRL. This would not happen to any other club but constantly happens to us. Could you imagine the Roosters if they had to put up with the tampering that is clearly going on?!
Winning solves everything but how are we supposed to win when EVERYONE likes seeing us be a basket case?!
This type of rubbish and the state of officiating need serious attention. Andrew Abdo should be fixing the game and leave the external stuff to Vlandys. They just turn a blind eye when the Tigers are getting kicked.
I used to love State of Origin but I am finding it harder and harder to get behind a NSW team made up of players and staff who constantly crap on my club.
I think we are getting there, it will take at least 2 seasons to turn this around....The Galvin thing may prove to be a blessing in disguise, just like Steffie pissing off. We have very young squad with Bird and Api as the only players over thirty, most are under 25 so they are all having to work on their game....even May is nowhere near his ceiling. Luai spent his whole career in the Penrith system so he needs to shake that off and adapt to this team. Our depth is probably the biggest issue, the quality drop from starting 17 to the rest of the squad is way too wide and this is where we are being found out.I am so over this Galvin BS. On the Origin front, i think i lost interest when Bennet came in with completely crap QLD side and schooled fittler...thats when i realised the nepotism and politics of the NSW team and it has turned me off ever since. Put it this way if May, Api and Luai were qlders, they would all be in the squad. Api as backup for Grant, Luai as loyalty for his heroics last year and May as one of the top 3 props in the game.

I hope so, mate.
I am usually pretty positive but I currently have the feeling that it is another false dawn.
@lorenzo I have said it before to much faith put into Richo its all about the dollers and how many he can save. Look at the players we let go last 6 months have we replaced them

I think things are slowly changing with the media. The Moses/Galvin saga divided opinions everywhere and it seemed most of the media took our side. The May snub has also divided everyone and I really think even the adverse comments from journos have been softened.
Commentators are another story, we're not going to stop the criticism we cop from Fittler, Ennis and co until we are a much better team. They'll still hate us of course but will really have to draw a long bow to keep crapping on us and even they can get called out.
That the player agents recently voted us as the hardest management to deal with has to be an improvement! Isaac Moses will get his way but we have put the entire NRL community on alert for his behaviour.
In the past we would have recruited whoever was available, i don't think we have missed out on anyone great, however I do believe some players were let go to upgrade Galvin and offer him a new contract. Now that he is not staying, I'm assuming richo is waiting for something to fall out of the tree.@lorenzo I have said it before to much faith put into Richo its all about the dollers and how many he can save. This is the thing if you aren’t in the 4 walls at Concord, we’re left to speculate. There could be a number of reasons why players were released & not replaced yet. Upgrading Galvin possibly, upgrading others, front loading someone like Luai now so there’s extra in next year’s cap to enable us to bring in a more expensive player than we mightn’t otherwise be able to do, not the right players available etc. I’m sure they’re trying to be strategic, as all clubs would be, but we don’t know what is involved in that strategy. I know Richo wants to ensure the club is successful before his tenure ends so he’ll do what he can to make sure we target the players who will make a difference, so far he and the recruitment team have done pretty well in that regard but still a fair bit to do.@lorenzo I have said it before to much faith put into Richo its all about the dollers and how many he can save.
