Chammas reporting KPP signature for Wests Tigers imminent.
ni world beater but better thanwhat we have currently
matches the skillful and youthful pattern of recruitment of the Tigers of recent years. It does sound like we may have some movement between now and after our bye. KPP allows sam to stay on the left which is a positive.
Marty tapau on the outer at broncos. I’d take him for the rest of 2025
In 2027 the Bears join the NRL. They’re going to be offering big contracts to spine players in particular. If I’m Richo I’m going to Jahream & his manager & offering Jahream a 2 or 3 year extension at $1 mill a season now. If it isn’t taken up then I’d be offering Papenhuyzen the same deal Nov 1st.
Ok I know this is very minor but was just looking in our Koe cup team and I don’t see ‘Flippers’ in there. Where is AJ ?
Benji ‘very close’ to landing new Tigers recruit
Benji Marshall is set to bolster his forward pack for 2026, with Newcastle’s Kai Pearce-Paul reportedly on the verge of signing with the Wests Tigers.
That is according to the Daily Telegraph’s Brent Read, who reported on Thursday night that Pearce-Paul has been “locked into negotiations” with the Tigers for a “few weeks” and that the two parties are “very, very close to a deal”.
“It should be done in the next week or two. He’ll be at the Tigers next year,” Read added on Triple M.
There had been suggestions earlier in the year that Pearce-Paul could end up at the Tigers as part of a three-club player swap involving the Knights and Eels, but Read said he doesn’t believe that will happen anymore.
“I think Kai will go at the end of the year,” Read said.
“Obviously that (the likelihood of the player swap) could change in the coming weeks.”
Pearce-Paul is off-contract at the end of the 2025 season, with Read reporting the Tigers are set to sign him on a three-year deal after the asking price got “too high” for the Knights.

Piakura is a chance I reckon - the Broncos need to shed a few forwards me thinks.
Wests Tigers Podcast - Talking everything Wests Tigers!
Unfortunately the 2 disappointments for me so far are
Hunt - underwhelming to date as he came with so much expectation to be our forward disrupter
Luai - his effort and direction has been great, but I had hoped he would be a half/five eight clone similar to M Moses playing style ( not personality)
let’s hope as the season progresses the team develops
also very disappointed in letting players go with no replacements/improvements in the roster, especially the forwards (Klemmer/ Bateman /ice etc)
@tigertragic56 I think you might be a touch harsh with those comments.
It is upsetting to lose last night but if you look past that disappointment:
- we are 5 wins 6 losses starting from a low base. Galvin grounds the ball and we are 6 wins and 5 losses.
- we are selecting from a very small squad of players. The likes of Matamua, Tumeth, Feledy, Saukuru, Olam are still listed as part of the top 30 on the club website but are not in contention for selection
- we are so short of depth in a number of positions and have not been found out just yet.
Richo and Benji are doing all they can having inherited a really awful squad. Most fans are hoping for change next year but I am still hopeful for some changes to the 2025 roster starting this week. I think they will auction Galvin (as part of a player swap) to the highest bidder and if they don't get a deal that suits Wests Tigers then he will stay with us for the next 18 months.
In the background to all of this there are some other clubs like Newcastle and Brisbane who have serious cap pressure and with losses mounting may be looking to shed players.
@mickb yep it may be a bit harsh as both have performed well, I was just expecting more by this stage of the season.
the assessment wasn’t based on last night but on the season to date.
All new players have been great compared to who they replaced.
I agree with most here that Latu’s style would suit Luai better than Galvin & the chemistry between the two would probably be better. But there would have to be another option as well. Reynolds would seem a good choice, his kicking game is great (and we still need that) plus his ability to organise is terrific. I think it’d benefit Lua’s game a lot. But Reynolds has a young family & seems entrenched in Brisbane but who knows for sure. Another option is another May, Tyrone. He has plenty of experience, has matured and settled into playing good footy in the Super League. If he’s available he would not cost as much as Reynolds & he is turning 29 this year. He could also cover other spots in the backline. At worst he’d be a good back up to both halves, at best he’d provide better balance with Luai if Latu needs to build his game in Cup.
Does anyone think we’re a chance at getting Joey Manu to the club? He’s more than likely going back to the Rorters, if he returns to the NRL, but we could fit him in. We could offer this season & next & frontload his contract this year. He has also played with Benji for NZ so there is some kind of connection there. 18 months with us & he could look at Perth Bears if they were keen on his signature as well which I’d assume they might.

this club needs origin quality players. Api is probably our only origin level player at this point so yeah I’d take Manu but I think our odds are vanishingly small that he would come. Reynolds might come for a pay check but I am getting Matt Ballin vibes from him given his age. We need another top tier prop imho. Seyfarth shouldn’t even be on our bench.
I agree another middle would be handy although I think Kit could do a job off the bench for a few weeks if he’s over his concussion. Not many around right now. In regards to Manu what gives me some small hope is that he took up the challenge of Union (something different for him) so maybe he wanted to test himself there, I know the money helped. But if he wanted another challenge back here then our club would give him that. And as there are 2 new clubs who will be looking at signing some big names soon 18 months here might be something he’d be interested in. I like the Manu idea, i also wonder how the hell the raiders can keep developing superstar second rowers and centres, surely we have significantly more juniors to choose from than they do, yet when was the last time we were able to develop any?
I think their recruitment is pretty good too to be fair. The 2 Englishman do well especially Nicholls. And Hosking has turned out to be a great pick-up but he came from a great system as well. Besides hooker I don’t think we’ve had a lot of success developing forwards. Woods was good, Dwyer was probably our best 2nd rower we’ve developed.I like the Manu idea, i also wonder how the hell the raiders can keep developing superstar second rowers and centres, surely we have significantly more juniors to choose from than they do, yet when was the last time we were able to develop any?
