ok here me out. Lomax was a massive Benji Marshall/Wests Tigers fan growing up. He joined the Eels under Brad Arthur because he wanted to play centre and then Arthur gets sacked and he’s playing for a new coach. He’s on a 4 year, $625k contract and he’s played for Australia and NSW. He’s an 85% success rate goal kicker. 25 years of age. Isn’t this the trade?

He'd be a great pickup. I think you could let AD go next year if we got Lomax

He’s the only thing on the Eels shelf of any quality.

No team is going to swap their best, or even 2nd best, player. The Eels are not stupid enough to swap Lomax even if the need Galvin because Lomax provides just as much as Galvin would to that team right now. However if they released Brown to the Knights, and he will be there for 10 years from next year, if they released him early to Knights, and they’d only do that if the Tigers agreed to let Galvin go over there now and the Knights were keen to get Brown over early. Ask yourself would that benefit both sides? If you think it would then the Tigers go to the Knights before anything is officially done & get them to release a player to them. Then the 3 way trade is on. That’s the deal that makes most sense to me given Brown is 100% leaving the Eels, Galvin is 100% leaving Tigers & Pearce-Paul is a chance of leaving Knights.
The Knights also last week swapped Sua with Teague from the Dolphins, Sua was going to Dolphins next year anyway so they are ok with this kind of thing it seems.

well brown is sign at the knights for 2026, KPP isn’t signed anywhere for 2026 and Galvin can’t sign for another club until 2027 so there is a difference there and that gives us leverage.

the eels need a giant roster rebuild just as we introduce multiple new teams to the comp. They have an extremely poor record bringing their juniors into the NRL. They are years away from being a competitive NRL team again. The start of a good team is to settle on your spine and they have a good 7 and 1. Galvin gives them another great piece in the puzzle and they could probably pick up a Liddle or another experienced 9 to give them something to work with. They then need to build a strong forward pack to give the team go forward for their spine to play off. Their forward pack is shot to bits with several mature forwards sitting in reserve grade because they are cooked. there is so much work to do.

A representative level centre is probably the last piece that you need to become a top 4 team. A player with class who can be the difference when competiting with the best teams. It makes no sense to hold on to Lomax when you have so many more essential roster spots to fill and when you can’t really use his talents and it makes no sense for him to stay when he will basically just be a tackling machine for the next 3 years .

If Galvin is going to the Dogs, and their future looks pretty rosey plus Gus is selling the club to him, then you could look at a trade there but who do they move to accommodate him in the team? Not Sexton, Galvin’s not a 7 neither is Burton. They also are bringing young Woods through. Could Haywood move to 7 & Burton to centre or fullback? Whatever the case who could Tigers trade for there? Kikau or Preston would be the ones to go for obviously. Kikau is contracted until the end of 2026, is 31 next year so it would seem to me that the Dogs would see this as pretty good timing to allow him to leave for Galvin. There is also a Fijian connection at the Tigers. A connection with Luai & Api as well. To me this is the 2nd most likely scenario.

Kikau is tight with Api and Luai, but he’s getting a bit injury prone.

AD has moved up to backup half at this point.

Yes, that’s why I’d think 18 months might be ok, he’d be 32 then & if playing well could extend him or he could look at one of the new clubs etc. We could develop Godinet & Sukkar during that time.

critta...can come play with his best mates. Or failing that Kikau and preston would work...after an in depth physical for kikau of course.

It’s interesting, to some extent anyway, that the 2 other Moses clients, Jahream & Phoenix are signed until 2027. PNG & the other new club etc (assuming there’s one) will be looking for players to join and Jahream will surely be on the list & Phoenix might also be if he lives up to the potential most of us believe he has. My hope is Heath sticks around & develops his game ala Gray, Fuller, Faalogo etc. He could be needed but there’s also Tino Tavana & Logan Brooks coming through.

Rumour on the other forum that Benji has met with Kai Pearce-Paul about a move to us next year.

we should recruit KPP if that’s what we want for 2026 and then go for Lomax vs Galvin 2025 swap. That still gives us room to bring KPp early if eels want to trade brown

Seems to play within himself. Not a full effort player.

Not a big fan. TBH would be the type of player we would have chased and given big money to a few years ago.

Really not totally convinced by the guy. Happy to leave at Parra.

he’s always been a handful whenever we have played him. I would say the only knock on him was that he runs up the stats against the weak teams but then again he is a (winning) origin player and Australian international so he is clearly quality. Plus he is an 85% goal kicker and is someone you can rely on to take conversions or drop goals from anywhere. I think if you look at how he makes up for our weaknesses he is a great addition to our squad
