Sheens had to stick to the head of football role, not come anywhere near coaching.
Maguire had 3 years to take a team on the fringe of top 8 to wooden spoon.
Yes the old coach was terrible and this coach is so much better. But we are somehow worse?
Technically, Madge never took this team to wooden spoon.
We weren't bottom of the ladder when he got sacked mid year last year and we shouldn't of ended with wooden spoon (sheens gave up on the year, in order to prepare for this year)
Fact is we have a much better team this year (with Api and Ice signed under madge). If madge stayed this year we would of kept Hastings, and I would of expected to be competing for top 8.
Sheens has been head of this team for 1 year - and looking like he'll oversee 2 wooden spoon and no halves for next year.
There have been a number of decisions that Sheens has made - which have proven to be damaging.
End of the day, no coach is perfect. They all have flaws.
Key thing is to ensure that the 'Club'fully supports and compliments the coach. We have never had that at WT.
Sheens has to deal with this admin, which many now see there flaws.
But just think Madge had to deal with the same admin with less support. He had to deal with salary penalties from Pascoe Farah mistake and from the overspending that Cleary/Pascoe did. And the ever presence threat to be sacked. Then to be sacked by the person who chooses himself to be the replacement.
Sacking coaches won't solve the problem
The only way we turn things around as a club - is for everyone to be pulling in the same direction- Chairman, CEO, Coach, Captain, everyone.
And that starts from the top....

Can we not see that 4-6 weeks ago, this club was finally going in the right direction? Player development for the first time in years, juniors coming through. Ask yourselves what has changed in that time and who is responsible? Sheen would be the 4th or 5th person in line to get sacked IMO.

Where is Joffa, and who made that decision? Where is Warren McDonald? Who is looking after recruitment and retention and did the coaching staff select him....? Who decided to give Brooks a 2 day deadline?

I was sarcastically repeating what Lee and Pascoe were saying last year.
Admin have a massive influence on the a key decisions, structure, performance and culture of the club.
We were looking on the up, until they messed it up 5 weeks ago

I totally agree that Lee and Pascoe needs to go now. I think we a football specialist general manager put in place. Of course we would need a top reformer ( eg a Shane Richardson ) to rebuild the organisation and competitive spirit. As for the current coaching structure I’m not sure if it’s the right way to go just now maybe in a few years when we can get the front office sorted out and start being more consistent on the field.
Lee and Pascoe have no idea what they are doing or what they have done!
They appoint Sheens Benji plan on advice from a “journalist” Buzz ! They like this 5 year plan because it buys them time to keep their jobs and will stop people questioning them as they can say we are in a five year plan!
Sheens jumps at it because he still had a coaching itch he wanted to scratch and proceeds to give up on the year while throwing Noddy under the bus.
After a diabolical start to the Season they go back to basic football nothing of what was promised at the start of the season.
They finally play some decent football then self destruct by appointing Fulton on the advice of Ray Hadley not consulting Sheens or Benji or doing due diligence.
Let go of Joffa screw up Brooks retention and have no plan of what to come. As well as all their self praising, incompetent management and total inability to stay out of football related decisions.

The blame for this debacle sits squarely with Wests Ashfield. As the owner of the football club they make the ultimate decisions about how it’s run and by whom. We will forever be a losing club whilst we are owned by wests Ashfield
It was the work of Sheens that took the team took the wooden spoon, not Maguire (who Sheens sacked and failed to replace) or Kimmorley (who Sheens gave zero support to even though he had to appoint himself as head coach in 2023). the only thing I’ll add to this is that Marshall has been the coach all season. Sheens has just been the front.@avocadoontoast The stink is there for all to see now .. the CEO and Chairman need to be removed . The chairman can take his sponsorship with him IMO! If Benji wants to coach he can start next week …

I mean, objectively I feel we were playing better under sheens. Until the first bye we had great meters and dominated but couldn’t convert in the red zone - a lot of tight losses. Between byes we played great, 3 wins culminating in the LO cowboys rout. Then the bye, Joffa punted, Fulton recruited without telling coaching staff, Lee and Pascoe produce a podcast about how great they are and we have fallen apart.
Absolutely spot on mate. I just can't get my head around actively seeking out a 72 year old ex coach on the other side of the world to fix your problems, to then go behind his back and exclude him from having the final say over the very things you recruited him to look after.
Every single thing at this club has been turned over in the last decade except for the Management of the club. Even the most stupid of people could surely see now, the problem is higher than the players/coaches. It always has been.
I will say it until I am blue in the face, go ahead, sack the whole football department, do a player cleanout and start again, but the results will be exactly the same until changes are made at the top of the tree. If some of those guys love the club as much as they claim, they should do the right thing and resign first thing tomorrow morning.

They wouldn’t be if they’d stop sticking their noses in. They need to provide the footy department with the resources they need and then get the hell out of the road
