Absolutely the worst idea. It’s time we get behind Madge 100%. Don’t even give this type of crap journalism oxygen. Absolute garbage journalism based on absolutely nothing but a throw away line by a mud throwing grub

We're 2 from 10 in his 4th season. He will need to do a hell of a lot better to get my support.

It’s ok Avo, he works hard and the players like him…shoot why don’t we give him 5 more years now??

So what if we never win any games as long as the boys are trying hard and having fun.

This is the worst idea in the history of bad ideas.

Which means that given our recent history there's probably some truth in it.

There’s an article on Fox Sports tossing up the idea that Madge gets a fresh start at the Dogs and we sign Shane Flanagan as coach.

You know it’s not the worst idea, though I know some of you won’t agree with that 😆

If that happens: Hastings, Crichton & Koroisau all to the Bulldogs.

When did we sign Crichton?

Didn’t say we did, yet.

I think having the respect of the playing group is important and just a bit different from the players having fun lol. Hat sales an interesting comment. I’m sure there’d be many critical posts if we weren’t financially in a good spot.
we are absolutely transitioning. We have got rid of the players that didn’t appreciate Madge’s hard nosed approach. The ones adverse to hard work. The ones that cause division within the club. We now have a growing group that work hard and are united. A good start. Sure we are 2/10. We have also been decimated by injuries. Yep - squad should be stronger but what more do we expect than what is happening - pathways development, overhaul of football department, purchasing of high standard experienced first graders. Our squad is absolutely growing (and needs to grow more).
Re Madge’s coaching - I totally lost faith last year but have changed my thinking based on what I’ve seen:

1. A team that never gives up

2. A much better defensive structure

3. An improving attacking plan

all this despite a ridiculous injury toll.

That one provoked an instant response Joel 🤣

Steve has arisen from Covid and is firing on all cylinders!!

Lol. The lack of substance to the article fired me up

I’ve not looked into the qualifications of the NRL journalists. Some obviously aren’t formally qualified (ex players) but some are. What annoys me is they only put up subjects that attract click bait and the articles really aren’t any better or truthful than the tripe you see in low brow womens magazines. I think they are lazy – they just sit back and wait for a phone call from a player manager saying player x is unhappy at y club, speculation about the next coach to be sacked, the occasional redemption story, stories about Buzz and someone disagreeing on some inane point.

I’d like someone to write thoughtfully about the problems in the game (stupid rules and mandates, refereeing and bunker crisis, judiciary crisis, holding Annesley to account, the uneven share of player talent, why 18 teams is a bad idea), and proper analysis of the matches instead of simply quoting what was said in the presser.

We had a show like you wish for - Sterlo’s show on fox. Great analysis and debate. But it was cut because no one watched it. Sad hey

I just haven't seen anything that suggests to me we've turned a corner - I think it's more wishful thinking at this stage. We have shown some effort but I think that is the bare minimum you should expect from a professional sports team. Sure we've been decimated by injuries but that's part of the game, and the players we have on the sidelines aren't superstars.

Quite simply, 2 from 10 in his 4th season isn't acceptable. This is his team and he should live or die based on the results. No more excuses and if we get done on Friday that should be his last game.

That’s correct Avo. I can 100% see where Steve is coming from but at some point we have to find wins, for whatever reasons Maguire just hasn’t been able to translate his efforts to wins here and the club can’t afford to just keep fumbling along at the bottom.

Every year he has been here we have lost ground and this year looks same.

I agree a loss to the Dogs would be terrible and maybe fatal for Madge but which coach do we go for, why will they come and why will they do better?

I think we need a fresh set of eyes and someone without the baggage of the Maguire tenure.

I feel (or fear) Maguire is a bit of a one trick pony and doesn’t have us capable of consistently playing the modern game.

It’s not a shot at him as a person, I appreciate his hard work here, but sometimes things just don’t work for people in certain environments.

He’s paid to get results, we all understand why they didn’t come straight away, but at some point you just have to start delivering consistently and we’re seemingly no closer to that spot.
