A big win in tomorrows game is absolutely vital on a number of fronts, least of all that it will prove to everyone that we can win under adversity, something we haven't done in close to ten years.

As for the 'bullying' issue, any prospective club may well view Galvin as 'soft' and not somebody that is made of the right stuff. I can imagine opposition players having a great time giving it to him now. Pandora's Box has well and truely been opened and life on the field has exponentially got much harder.

the mental health card didn’t seem to damage Mitch Moses’ reputation. Everyone knows it’s just a scam if you get the release you are perceived as the winner. The club the loser. Meanwhile Flanagan can hang crap on Ilias safe in the knowledge his mates in the media will have his back.

Agree, it's a completely baseless accusation.

And yet we will see these gossip merchants pushing tales of mental health issues uncritically and repeatedly until their source gets the outcome he wants.

It’s easy. Richo gets our lawyers to reply refuting the allegations. You also state the matter will be defended vigorously if any further action is taken.

You force them to go legal if they want to go further and then no further comments by any party are allowed.

Court date will be some time down the track if they choose to pump the money in to go that way.

If they do it gets referred to mediation first and further delays.

in the mean time the upstart gets to spend plenty of time away from the NRL.

Couldn’t agree more.

Trying to swing the narrative by appealing to people's love of Sheens.

[/quote} Love of Sheens? Which people are you referring to? Sure as hell not me. I abandoned years of membership when Sheens was appointed by Lee, Pascoe et al and given powers and authority way beyond what he deserved. And I haven't renewed membership since. If there was any negativity from Marshall towards Sheens, then I have more respect for Marshall. Sheens was a yesterday's man well before he shuffled his backside under a desk with authority at WT in his last incantation.

The casual fans that only remember 2005. It is all just a smear campaign mixed with fake pearl clutching

it ain’t bullying, he just has a deal already & wants out asap. Galvin’s time with the Tigers is done. Let him rot & invest in Latu. Force whichever team it is to give up a player we want in return. Should be an interesting couple of months.

Most likely weeks, not months, and we’ll be better off for it.

I don't see us getting anything in return within weeks sadly.

I don't think any of us are in any position to determine if Galvin was bulled or not, and probably would be best not to comment.

But, I don't get how Richardson is getting off scot-free here. He created the press release, I assume with Marshall's knowledge and consent, and decided to release it, with details and tone that he chose to use. Just to pre-empt the story appearing in the print media the next day?

From the get-go, I think Richardson has handled it badly; too emotive, too stubborn, too petulant; in other words, all of the things that Galvin and his mob are accused of.

And, now with the heat turned up on Marshall and the players, where is Richardson now? Lurking around in the background somewhere trying to save as much face as he can as this thing escalates. Richardson poured the fuel and struck the match with that incendiary media release, IMO. And, I know that won't be a popular opinion with many.

@mercy-rule unfortunately it would have been leaked by Moses the next day with a completely anti tigers spin on it, I think the club has done exactly the right thing (other than possibly the 2 player social media things)

the tone was completely appropriate based on the Moses response to the offer and ongoing negotiations with other clubs

I still think Richo did the right thing with that press release. It took the wind out of the sails of Moses using us as leverage against other clubs and put an end to the will he/ wont he re-sign crap. Why are the club, team and coaches not allowed to express themselves, but an "individual" can? I put individual in quotations as we can all see that it is his team of scumbags getting the story out there. That includes all of their mates in the media from Read to Aaron Woods. The game of contracts is so see-through that people like Anasta are calling it out, but then have to act shocked and follow the script when the next thing happens. The only difference this time is that the club is not bowing down, so I applaud them.

Everyone saw the script coming; the only surprise was that the club put the wheels in motion early, rather than later in the year. Mental health is no joke and they are either weaponising it to get what they want, which makes a mockery of those who suffer from mental health issues, or it is giving Lachy issues, which is the fault of his manager and parents, as they know full well what the script was going to be. The scrutiny that he will be under now will be far worse than a few jibes from teammates.

This may read harshly but it is the thoughts of many and some who have a voice but are unable to voice it.

A couple of thoughts from me:

1) Galvin was hyped up beyond his actual ability because the Tigers are a club looking for a messiah after a decade of disaster. It was the club, fans and media that have overstated his actual ability and he would not be perceived as being this good if he was playing for another club. Look at Isiah Katoa, this kid is playing 7 and killing it, came out of the penrith system, is 20yrs old and is a beautiful game manager and player. That kid at this stage of development is better than “crabwalk” Galvin but gets 1/10th the hype.

2) no other team has to deal with the fact that the game (media, fans, administration) don’t think we deserve to be treated as a club with the respect of the big clubs. I blame the Pascoe etc era for absolutely destroying the respect that the game had for our club despite being quite a popular and competitive club in the 2000s. It’s the lack of respect that allows commentators to say “they should just let Lachie go”, “it’s untenable”, “what about Lachie’s mental health”. I dont hear any of that when the Roosters sack May over the phone whilst he’s playing in the World Cup or when Flanagan can go into a press conference and say that Ilias is the reason the Dragons lost. And to watch Jason Ryles go on TV and say how great it would be to coach Lachie (in 2027) and that he is a kid who clearly loves the eels and would be great for the eels (in 2027) it’s just a disgrace.

im past the point of wanting a trade because no trade will be perceived of being worth losing Galvin over. I am now completely in the camp that we need to find a way just to let Galvin sit out the next 2 seasons. It’s not because I particularly care about Galvin and what he’s done but I think the club finally needs to establish some boundaries in terms of how we are treated by the game. There needs to be a cost incurred for treating our club with such disrespect and I think it’s entirely reasonable to say the coach picks the team and if he doesn’t think you are the right player then you don’t play. There has been a million players who have had to deal with that, look at Hastings at the Knights, he has clearly fallen out with Obrien and they refuse to pick him even though they are desperate for a 7. We just need to do the same.
