@garry I expected far better from Mikaele with his eye issues sorted , still has issues with his hands , one last season to improve

He really is the only forward we have that really runs hard, though he is far too inconsistent.
In this post I leave out Stef as he is just a beast.

@garry Stef is awesome ...hope we start working on an offload before the line as well ...that will make him an even better player

I wouldn't mind us using Mikaele a touch wider in attack the same way we were using Jesse Sue in the red zone a few years ago ...give us some venom in the final twenty with more vulnerable defenders

Agreed, I really think he will be in the top 2 front rowers in the game within 2 years.

I agree with everyone who has said:
- he's not an edge player. Moves very slow laterally in defence
- he's given away too many penalties
He's not big enough to make post contact metres and rarely gets a quick play the ball. I think for WT to have a hope of Top 8 in '22 Joe should be in Reserve Grade.
Tamou
Stefano
Twal
Mikaele
Musgrove
Simpkins
are all better front row contributors IMO
Think he is very valuable on the bench as part of a front row rotation with the advantage of being able to play lock or backrower gives your bench flexibility.
Though he played well last year without being amazing. I see Stef and Tamou as our starting props and then Joffa, Twal and Mikelle our full strength bench. We also need to remember you always need lots of middles because some will be injured and 1 prop suspended at any time so you need them all to be up to it.

I only have Twal and Stef in front of him based on 2021 form.

I really can’t put Tamou in my 17.
Twal, Stefano, Offa, Musgrove all ahead of him.
Sick to death if ineffectual imports. He needs to lead by example or retire

Musgrove has a lot more to prove to me after his form in 2021.

Yeah I feel the same but I’ve seen it in him. Albeit briefly. I suppose I’m hoping that those brief moments of dominance can translate into consistent play. I know the coaching staff believe in him. Suppose it’s up to him

The trial game we watched him at Penrith a few years ago he dominated, but performances like the one against Manly this year have been to regular a standard that he plays at. That game turned on 2 horrible defensive plays within minutes of each other from Musgrove.

Another player whose effort seemingly ebbs & flows. On his good days he is an extremely damaging player, unfortunately those were few and far between last year
I wonder if he trains in such a way that coaches see a damaging edge back rower in him but that doesn’t translate to match day.
He appears to have attributes that suit the position but seemingly can’t put it together.
However given continuity and a simple role to play I think he can be a very good prop and hopefully that’s where we see him for the whole season.
