Lee Hagipantelis tells @VossyBrandySEN: The @WestsTigers Board has ratified a proposal in relation to our home grounds for next season. 5 games will be played at Leichhardt, 5 at Campbelltown, 1 in Tamworth and Magic Round is a home game
I think this is a good move, but how does Lee know we have a home game at Magic Round? Has the draw been done?
It's contracted.
Very interesting. I didn't know that.
Save Leichhardt Oval…
@garry So does that mean every team gets told they will either be home or away but then when the draw is confirmed, some one misses out? Sounded to me that Lee was adamant the Tigers were going to be there. LOL a bit of a cat out of the bag moment I think....

We requested magic round as a home game and signed a multi year contract.

How clubs have done that us and Manly. Anyone else?
The club has been talking about this being the plan for a while now but I’m not sure it’s sustainable long term especially if we start having some success
Arhh returning to what we did from 00 to 04. Yeah they were good/successful times. Let the good times role.
Back to the future....if brisbane tigers are the 18th team we should have to change to the mcflys. They should be the tigers
This is a serious question.
Why is this club so determined to live in the past? Couple of losses? Quick employ someone from 05.
This home ground stratagy had us broke 20 years ago. Corporates are going to love the grass banks
We have a shiny new coe but play out of run down delapadated stsdiums. Brilliant look. And modern life/ sponsorship is about optics. Being the batlers doesnt bring in the cash.

I don't know the arrangement other clubs have.

100% correct. We have no vision.

I really want to ask Pascoe how this strategy grows the club long term. Memberships will take a hit from this. I’m sure they have data that supports it but I can’t see the fan base growing at suburban grounds.
I like the simplicity of 50:50 split between LO and CS (ignoring Tamworth and magic) It reinforces our home/community which I think is very important.
However, they both have tiny capacity - we hit top 8 and we are turning away 10-15 thousand people each game.
The only way to make this sustainable is to make one ground at least 25-30k capacity - which cannot fit at LO and only fits an upgraded Campbelltown or a new stadium at Liverpool.
I would be seeing state funding for LO given how revered it is and seeking private equity for CS as a 25-30k stadium.

Lee says private equity more viable at CS - but didn't sound like any with had been done, just kite flying at this stage.
Personally, I'd love to see it redeveloped into a 25k-30k stadium - and CS has the space to develop

@frullens yeah that seems a much more viable idea than the quoted private equity investment in LO. There is a bunch of public car parks and land around the stadium so it might actually not be a silly idea. Cronulla have done that and it would leave Campbelltown council with a more valuable asset in a redeveloped stadium and potentially a new leisure district. Seems smart.
Leichhardt will never get a significant update, ever.
Campbelltown eventually will.
I think the clubs move is one of putting the cards on the table - saying we’re giving it a go and there’s no excuse for government investment in the facilities (especially Leichhardt) and when that doesn’t happen they will have to look elsewhere but it won’t be on them.
Typical of the management to make the soft decision with a hidden agenda/angle.
