That was excellent indeed. Should be a mandatory ruling. If you go down for a head knock and don’t immediately rise to play the ball, then a compulsory HIA should be enforced. That will stop the actors.I think the problem with Stains is in his head. He’s a better player than today but after his shocking injury he looks a little gun shy to me. A sports psychologist is what he needs IMO.Charlie having a shocker
Staines issue is he’s a terrible player.
IMO he is not a terrible player, he is a good player, but he is a small body and that is not the modern winger.
Thought he had a crack but just too light.
On a different point, how good was it to see Rapana get sent to the HIA for his acting?
said exactly that at ours. I hope they keep it up as it will eliminate it very quickly
Positives: Galvin is a NRL player, happy ro see him start at 6 next week. Thought Fainu offered plenty (more than Twal and Seyfarth did). We look more settled with Sezer playing 7 IMHO. Bula attack around Galvin is already better as both have some vision.
negatives: Sullivan isn’t it (please just put him back to cup, it’s a waste even having him on the bench). Refs sat on us in the first 25min and gave the game to the raiders and that’s the way it will be until we start winning. Outside backs are showing nothing but I still think the problem is closer in ie they have no good ball. Stephano doesn’t look happy IMHO, I think he’s on his way out of the club. Papi ain’t right.
bad result but I am not going over the edge just yet. I want to see:
1. bula
2. lobb
3. Olam
4. naden
5. Staines
6. galvin
7. sezer
8. Ute
9. api
10. klemm
11. bateman
12. papi
13. ????
14. TDS
15. pole
16. sam fainu
17. Sione fainu
geez getting rid of that number 6 from manly has made all the difference.....
we were pretty bad today Dud Sullivan should not be in first grade again.
where is latu fainu ?
for our attack we need fainu Galvin and sezer all on the park

Can you please move on. We know you’re a big supporter of Luke and respect that. But he’s no longer here. Good luck to him however there is no need to bring him up every opportunity you have.

I think I saw round 4 as an expected return date.

Galvin took more control over the team today in his first game than Brooks did in 10 years.
But, the pathways!! The pathways!! The Sheens/McDonnell delusion is alive and well.Rough day for all grades.
First Grade 32-12 loss
NSW Cup 50-12 loss
Flegg 36-0 loss
SG Ball: 42-6 loss for both Balmain and Wests
H Matts: Wests win 26-14, Balmain lose 46-0
The only way is up?? After that effort against Raiders I have my doubts.
I don't know enough about fringe players to even suggest changes but our forwards, as a group, unless everyone of them performs at 9+/10 for 80 minutes, are simply uncompetitive against most other packs; with the obvious exception of Api.
Bateman was deadset awful, Stef and Klemmer were monstered, Seyfarth was Seyfarth (honest but limited). Papali'i looked dangerous at times with the ball but his defence is suss. Pole and Fainu at least offered some grunt at times.
To hear Luke Lewis (ABC Grandstand commentator and bogan) say that he is "worried about the Tigers" in his summary of their first game is hardly inspiring for those of us who hoped for a better 2024.
For my way of thinking our next player acquisition has to be a hard nosed, high impact,no nonsense middle forward.I don’t want to be critical of David Klemmer as he’s honest as the day is long and totally committed, but his style of play doesn’t bend the line enough and while we have the likes of Seyfarth(also honest and committed)in the run-on,I think this curtails the amount of offensive damage we can do.We just have to be asking more questions of opposition in the nuts and bolts physical battle.
