I also have no issue with someone attending their nieces wedding.

And, I agree too. It was vindictive and unnecessary by Breen, as was the reference to O'Farrell missing off Nobbys, and Marshall being the messiah. Who knows why he's taking a pot shot at Richardson and WT or if he's motivated by some allegiance to Isaac Moses (as some claim here).

But, it's an OPINION piece. He's not pretending to report facts. I agree with one part only and that is, as a CEO, Richardson should have crafted a less emotive press release than the one he did and things may have not have escalated the way they did with alleged "bullying" comments by players etc.

I get that it was an opinion piece but it is in a newspaper not on Twitter or a blog. I would expect a credible paper to provide informed opinion from their writers otherwise it’s just clickbait. Peter Fitzsimmons has similar form, a rugby player who enjoys writing garbage about a game that he knows nothing about. This is engagement farming for money and it comes at some cost to our club.

Where are all the sensationalist articles about Jackson Hastings as the best half option for the Knights yet banished to reserve grade....Where is the RLPA concern for Hastings being most qualified yet not even getting a run? Where is the sensationalist article about Terell May dumped for no reason from the Roosters yet almost leading the Dally M's for a club with a team full of bullies, a shit culture, an incompetent coach/CEO/Chairman, or even Dominic Young dumped to reserves and wanting out of the roosters?

.....Maybe nobody has an opinion on these things.

Anyway... my one word is also 'efforts'.

Especially toward the end of the game there were some outstanding efforts on display, even down to 12 players we somehow managed to keep the game from slipping away! I noticed myself actually exclaiming "great tackle", and "great effort"!

The Neil Breen article is one of the laziest hatchet jobs I have ever read, this says a lot considering the amount of crap that has been written about the tigers over the years. I have no issue with Richo going to his nieces wedding, and I don't think any fans were booing the club and in fact I barely heard any booing related to Galvin. All in all, a great outcome for the Tigers the result on Sunday and the team and management should be congratulated.

Having said that, the adulation for Galvin seems to go on unabated in the media, I think he had a pretty ordinary game, especially in defense, everyone going on about his try saving tackle on the Cronulla forward, yes it was great he got a hold of him and slowed him down, however if you look at the replay he actually lost his grip on the tackled player and if not for a team mate coming in and covering he could have got up and scored a try under the posts, I mention this as it is a worrying trend. If you look at a few of the line breaks and other try's you can see a trend of Lachie not making solid first contact or completely missing his assignment in defense. I raise this because it is obvious opposing teams are targeting him in defense, and it is a massive liability that far outweighs anything he provides in attack. I will not get into the attack side of his game, as I'm pretty sure most people on this forum would have noticed the balance between the rocks and diamonds.

I’m glad someone else noticed his defence as well. It’s pretty ordinary at times. Mostly he is the 2nd or 3rd person in. Not often he is first up and when he is the opposition usually breaks free unless others join in the tackle. His long kicking game is ordinary, always has been. His short kicking game is rocks & diamonds. Sometimes fantastic but other times he gives away 7 tackle sets.

Have to admit I was wrong about the result. Expected Sharks to win but very happy it turned out differently. The optimist in me did have a sneaky $10 on a Tigers win in extra time so ended up with $400 in the pocket as well as seeing us get the 2 points & celebrate Twally’s 150th the way he deserves. Nice to now be 4-4 one third of our games completed.

wow...what a win...I had conceded defeat when Pole was sent to the bin. Sharks were coming home with a wet sail but the boys dug deep. Thats gotta be one of the gutsiest wins against a top 4 team in a long long time.

Leichhardt Oval sounded and looked incredible in the broadcast too!

@tigertownsfs So, "informed" opinion is opinion you can agree with. Is that it?

As for SMH being credible; they're a short half-head in front of anything Murdoch offers but that hardly qualifies them as being credible.

if Joey Johns wants to write about the way the game is being played or if Gus wants to write about the laws or the game or junior etc that is informed opinion and it’s newsworthy hence it being in a newspaper. Saying Barry hasn’t been sighted off nobbys or that the club is a shambles because they let David Fifita go should be reserved for forums like this not national newspapers imho

I don't know what Johns or Gould writes or who they write for because I don't read it.  As for David Fifita, I assume you mean Andrew? Apologies if David was once a Tiger, I wasn't aware of that.

I only read the Breen article after it was referenced on here. And, of all the stuff he said in his OPINION column, there was only one part that I thought was worthy, and that was Richardson stuffed up by the tone and timing of his press release. That's it. On pretty much everything else WT, we probably agree on.

Breen wrote an article a few weeks back suggesting that Galvin should get $2m a year. I don't think he's one we should be taking notice of.

Loved the game yesterday, one of the grittiest performances in recent memory. It was a pretty high-quality game despite the conditions, and I agree with the pod that it was semi-final-like in terms of tension and the like. Not something you would have associated with the Tigers for a long, long time.

Lots of good performances, not far from perfect which makes it all the more impressive IMO. They all dug in for each other and pushed each other through the trenches. The sort of win that will do a lot for the morale of the squad in the long term.

I was a bit frustrated that we only went at Hiroti sporadically in that first half. The guy was on one leg basically from kick-off and would have loved to see Toa/Turuva get some early ball to run at him and take advantage. I know we got one try out of that matchup, but felt we could have had at least another before he finally caved in and went off.

I think he did mean Andrew Fafita, but Andrew's brother David played Toyota Cup for the Wests Tigers and is currently an assistant coach in our girl's pathway system.

I am ok with Richo's handling of the Galvin situation, all he did was announce that the club did their best to re-sign him and that Galvin wasn't interested.

here is the quote for accuracy:

But for every boo there was for Galvin, there were equally as many directed at the club in general. Just imagine what would have happened if Richardson himself rolled out to the middle before the teams ran on.

In Wests Tigers’ land, chaos and disappointment are so normalised, punch-drunk fans have learned to live with it.

This is the club, after all, that lost James Tedesco, Aaron Woods, Andrew Fifita, Josh Addo-Carr, Mitch Moses, Ryan Papenhuyzen … to name a few.

Then there were fiascos like punting Robbie Farah before grovelling to get him back. While all that was going on, they haven’t made the finals since 2011 and have won the last three wooden spoons.

In 25 seasons as a joint venture, they’ve made the finals just three times – 2005, 2010 and 2011.

To start 2025, the team was three wins and three losses.

Penrith’s Jarome Luai and Sunia Turuva had arrived, as had Terrell May.

Despite being only April, and with a promising start in the bag, Richardson decided to bring the Galvin situation to a head a full 18 months before his contract ended and five months before he could even talk to other clubs. It blew up in his face as he took on a formidable foe in Galvin’s manager Isaac Moses.

Benji “The Prophet” Marshall, hired to lead the club back to the promised land that still resides in 2005, emotionally dropped Galvin in a decision rubber-stamped by Instagram-loving teammates, only to bring him straight back when the team was hopelessly spanked by the lowly Eels.

Wow, that showed him. In trying to teach Galvin a lesson in humility and loyalty, all it did was show him the team couldn’t live without him for one week.

Cue Benny Hill music.

My main point was that this article was dropped an hour after a famous win at Leichhardt. You cannot tell me this guy sat down, watched our game and then wrote that article. It was prepackaged and he hit send regardless of the result. It’s lazy lazy stuff that would not happen to another club and I don’t know why we have to accept that. The eels lost their 5/8 because they wrote terrible contracts, the sharks play out of half a stadium because of bad business deals, the knights are going through a rebuild again, manly losing DCE. I just think we cop way too much grief. Not that there isn’t legitimate criticism but honestly the media mostly has refused to accept it even follow what changes we have made as a club. I think Benji deserves massive wraps for how he has handled this year. Last year he made a lot of mistakes but he has learnt from that and we are playing much better football, we have recruited well and are fixing are poor top30 roster, Benji brought the team back together after last week to play as a team and to win. These are the stories we deserve to have written.
