Team just dropped. Toa back, Hunt starting at prop.

What the hell is Naden doing on the Bench. I would have bought Kit in for the prop rotation....is he still suffering concussion symptoms? I don't mind the starting 13, its the bench that is a massive worry.

Benji has dropped Tallyn probably to get the biggest team possible on the park. Needs Naden to cover any of the backs going down I suppose.

that would have been my last week plan, souths forward pack are not as scary or big as the Storm. Bird can cover the backs, if we need bigger players I'm bringing porter in...maybe Naden is insurance for Toa in case he doesn't get through training....then he is dropped and porter starts or perhaps Tallyn comes back in.

Yeah, we didn't need Klemmer in this squad.

We are not a serious team. Lose 1 Prop and the cupboard is empty.

Always remember the old Bullfrog saying how you build a premiership team. Get one of the best halves pairings in the comp and when you have enough props buy another for insurance.

We start the year with only enough props for our 1st 17

I don't think a lack of Props is the issue, it's a lack of experienced and quality props or props playing lock or second row. We have Sione, Ruben, Kit, Twal, Seyfarth, May, Pole, problem is they are either playing out of position, inexperienced , or not really impactful or a combination of these.

Fair enough. Seyfarth can't be in our prop rotation with the lack of second rowers.

We have 5 FG front rowers May Pole Twal Hunt and Sione. (ie the guys selected in our top 17 most weeks)

Kit and Ruben are numbers in the squad, and in Kit should not be top 30. But i dont have faith in either of them.

I think we lack props (and a second rower to move Sayfarth)

the Bullfrog method when you think you have enough props go buy another one.

Games are won upfront our front row got monstered against storm

I said at the time that the Klemmer move would only make sense if we used the $$ elsewhere. I know there's still a month and a half before the deadline, but it's not looking good is it.

This week's squad is incredibly weak which shows how little depth we have.

We still have a couple of years of turnover to go through before we are capable of a serious finals run. And that's assuming we get the turnover and development right.

I’d love to know Richo’s strategy here in regards to clearing spaces and creating cap space, it only makes sense (from the outside) if you have people you want to bring in.

At this stage, we’ve weakened the squad but not seen any incomings.

@helmesy If Richo is serious about turning the club/team around the real clean out takes time . All the talk of youth talent coming through might have some credence but reality is that’s a long way of, reserve grade in my opinion is where the problem is the ball  has been dropped .

There has to be a well coached and a stocked up reserve grade side readying players for the step up to cover injuries and the like , as it stands I see a very poorly coached side with the majority of players well out of there depth . When you say the side is weakened I agree but it has always been weak, look at the top 30 that is a weak top 30 . Reserve grade has been the forgotten piece in all of this and I blame Richo for that he has dropped the ball , there is no depth because it’s been neglected the coach should never of been reappointed he had no runs of the board from last season . So a weakened side short term to enable a rebuild in reserve grade and the top 30 takes time contracts and the like , until I see a well coached and a well stocked reserve grade side  Richo has not done his job . Can not lay blame on Marshall if the CEO has not supplied him with a reserve grade side well coached and players at the ready to step up.

@mac_tiger My question -  is Api up for 80 mins or not this seems a strange development , think there might be more going on in the back ground . That is a very strange bench and Hunt is not a starter.

It’s a good question but there’s little doubt in my mind Api will be asked to do very little this week at training, ball work sessions only I’d imagine. I’m guessing they’ll try to freshen them up a bit this week and lighten loads of quite a few.

Api needs to get our forwards running onto the ball with some venom, the way we have utilised Hunt in his stints bar a couple of games has not been great. He seems to be getting the ball too flat, he needs to be running off the back fence and 2nd or third hit up when we have the defense on the back foot....he needs another forward that can hit the ball up and quickly find their front. May stays upright wrestling with the defenders and is very slow to play the ball. That's why a Pole/Hunt combination would be better in my view, or we get a hard running 13 that can play the ball quickly. Or perhaps we get Samuela to come in and take a hit up with hunt following....there are options, however we don't seem to have a plan.

Just watch a dogs game...they have mastered the quick play the ball, they are dominating the the middle in most games with a small forward pack and its all down to fast play the balls.....that's what you need when you have a smaller pack, problem is our guys (mainly Twal and Seyfarth) are small, yet slow.

Hmmm yeah think it will too … but we hardly ever win into a bye. And after that diabolical game in Melbourne we are a shot duck imo. Latrell will be untouchable and put on a show I reckon.

Just looking at both teams their coaches are playing ducks and drakes with the makeup. I know I’d start Bird at right backrow and play Seyfarth as prop rotation. But what do I do with Naden 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
