My one word is deflating. I thought we more than matched them in our meterage gains and our goal line defence has definitely improved but the stats don't lye that our defensive reads were poor with the sheer amount of missed tackles we made. I thought Skelton was our MOTM but Ponga proved the difference in the end. However, it was disappointing that our two big Penrith signing had relatively quite games. Here's hoping that Luai and Galvin can formulate a solid attacking combination sooner rather than later. Perhaps Benji should've given Luai the second trial to practice his craft with Galvin. I do feel as though we were a little hard done by with some of the decisions made by the referee, however, we need to be good enough to overcome any adversity in order to win the game. This game was very winnable as it was against similarly skilled opposition, not to mention it was a home game! Perhaps I'm overreacting but I fear this moment may have already defined our result for the season in us missing the top 8 again.
Deflating is definitely a word I can relate to regarding last nights game.

It reminds me of 2023 where we made good meters but had very little in the red zone. Ultimately that burnt our forwards out because they did all the hard work and got very little reward. Our pack is great but we remain without an attacking shape that we can fall into and generate points. After the first half an hour with little to show, what shape and patience we had fell apart and we went back to side to side which was easily contained by the knights.
And, fair enough comment. I wasn't aware of the missed tackles stat, but it makes me wonder what the off-season was about if defence was so sloppy tonight. As for Galvin; he's still a kid so we can cut him some slack. But for a team that struggles to score points, Doueihi and Twal offer very little toward changing that. Thank goodness the Knights were off their game. They could have won by 20.It seemed like Luai believed all the Galvin hype and gave him lots of ball in attacking positions. For not much dividend.
Of the supposed game-changers, Ponga outperformed Luai.
Twal and Doeuihi are plodders, at best.
I agree on the most part, but bit harsh on AD and Twal. For a game where we missed 60 tackles, AD and Twal missed 1 between them. Faatape looked far more vulnerable in defence. But I agree, Galvins game was very disappointing.
My one word - WTAF. I think it's Latin for "geez chaps I hope you can improve a bit next week"
One word. Uninspiring
A typical Wests Tigers performance.
I hate to knock Campbelltown, but it’s a strange place to play, the atmosphere can be non existent. They have to be consistently playing well, getting every call, scoring try’s for any noise to be made. It’s weird.
If Ponga didn’t play, maybe we win. Who knows.
I never thought for a moment we’d get off to a flyer this season especially with the young spine we had yesterday & no Api. Heath & Tallyn are developing but rarely do you see great players in their positions at 19 years of age. They’ll have good moments of course but are still learning what NRL is about. Also having 5 new players in the starting side and 2 on the bench (7or the 17) meant it was quite likely going to be ok in some ways and and not so in others, expected for me. The thing now is to maintain some stability in the team, have a good run with injuries and simply improve on each week. In the last few seasons (more actually) we’ve put 6,7,8 etc losses together. We have winners in the club now who have to ensure we respond quickly to any setbacks. It won’t be easy of course, we may lose another close game next week, who knows, but we’ve got to try to get a few wins on the board in these first 6 or 7 games to give us something to go on with.

Newcastle laid all over us in the ruck, and while we didn’t fight enough to make it obvious we should have got a few hold down penalties

Is 321 motm going to be put up Joel?
Having just watched the Thrive or survive doco, I am wondering what they actually took out of that camp if we're missing 60 odd tackles in a game? Is it over exuberance? Flying into a tackle with the wrong technique? Or an effort thing?
As others have said, once the spine is back to full strength and Luai & Galvin have a few more games together I think we'll be okay. There were definitely green shoots visible.
We need to find a way to ease big Royce into more minutes. He made 63 metres last night but half of those were post contact.
Just watched the replay of the game, I feel that we are still look like Uncoached team, compare to other clubs. So my one word is I coached.
