This episode of the Wests Tigers Podcast starts with a special public service announcement with Eddie Otto clearing the air and issuing a public apology to a member of the Wests Tigers Podcast family.

Eddie, Declan and Garry then discuss the potential makeup of the Wests Tigers starting side in the year 2027, where will Latu Fainu and Lachlan Galvin fit in, and which other players can make the step up in the next 3 years?

A fan favourite then returns, with Eddie takes the boys through a game of Buy, Sell, Hold.

Attention then turns to Saturday’s clash with the Bulldogs with an indepth preview of the key match ups heading into Round 9.

Finally, Yioti once again challenges the team knowledge in Yioti’s Quiz, can Eddie avoid the ire of the quizmaster in this week’s episode.

Thank you for joining us as the team discuss everything Wests Tigers.

I have yet to meet Eddie but have to say I love his passion but, there’s always a but isn’t there, tipping the Dogs, seriously. I guess I understand to some degree but this is a toss of the coin imo. But I kind of find it frustrating that we supporters can’t make ourselves believe we’re a chance in every game we play. In fairness I have doubts like everyone but I do my best to believe in our chances, I convince myself we can win because I don’t care if I’m wrong, who cares if I’m wrong? What do I have to lose by believing we can win? I realise you guys have to give a tip so it’s a bit different but when it comes to this game surely we can find enough to believe in to tip us to win it. Perhaps I’m wrong.
I believed we could win our last two games even though it was always unlikely but I’m sick of not believing in us. We lost & I lost nothing in the process. I just think these guys & Benji now need us to believe we can win no matter who we play. It’s difficult for Wests Tigers supporters I know, it’s still difficult for me too but I’m just fed up with not believing in them.

@russtutty63, well said. That’s exactly how I feel too.

I can see the improvement this year and enjoying the games this season more so than the last two.

Good fun podcast guys…on the topic of Api, I’m not against him playing 80 every game. However when we play a hooker on the bench he MUST be rested at some stage. It also imo depends on our halves taking more control of the game, especially in the red zone. That’s why I’d like Galven been given the 7 jumper and Fainu promoted to the 6. Maybe play Sezer at 13 or 14.

Yes I can concur, however another winless month might bring out old memories. Losing will become a habit soon if we don’t win a game. Starts Saturday with the dogs, I’m more in Garry’s thoughts. Could win or lose this one by the barest margin. W

We haven’t had a golden point for awhile now 🤔 18-18 90 min thriller

It wouldn't surprise would it. Our form is ok too. We had opportunities against the the 2 best teams in the comp' and we fought hard, they were simply too good as they will be for most teams this year. We're 2 from 5 our other games but most agreed 3 weeks ago when this 17 picked it was our best line up (Tupou out but Alaimalo did well) and we didn't have this line-up in those first 5 games. This will be their 3rd game in a row together so would think they'll be better again. To use a horse racing analogy we're out of weight for age company and back to more favourable handicap conditions this Saturday, we can win.

Loving the content gang but geez there have been some outlandish statements on the two pods this week.

First Joel wanting to shred sezer (the guy must be in the top 3 players this year in our man of the match polls), and then Eddie laying into Bula.

Thankfully the voice of reason (Declan) came through and made the point about teddy and the others needing time to develop. We have short memories if we are ready to move on Bula, who rarely drops a ball and is so safe in defence, compared to our history of Laurie, AD, etc. He is still only 20 games into his career. It’s like we want youth development but also want immediate success. To steal a line from the 76ers, trust the process.

The calls to dump sezer for fainu this early in the season are baked as well. Do we forget that pairing Moses with brooks early on produced some lovely trick shots and highlights (like the fox try) but they lacked the consistency and measuredness required from a seasoned first grader. His kicking game isn’t as sharp as Reynolds but he is exactly what we need to bring Galvin along until luai gets here. As Gary says, he won’t last the full season physically so fainu will get his shot at some point.

I think there's a separate issue at play here. None of us have seen Latu Fainu play in our colours. We can't say with confidence whether he is a better option than Sezer.

I think he might have played a dozen or so reggies games at Manly and he looked like Wally Lewis in some of those (which is exciting).

My point is - Latu should be playing in the halves in Cup for us to get a better idea as to his talent.

I also agree with Gary's point about Sezer not lasting the season. Whatever the case, we need to see some of Latu in the NRL team before the end of the season. I think we have a bit of a problem next year with 3 NRL standard halves in Luai, Latu and Galvin.

@loganr21 im pretty sure Garner's manager was shopping him around to Brisbane and others a few weeks ago. He doesnt play starting minutes often enough at Penrith but agree he is a good player.

@mickb I agree. The best thing for Latu’s development right now is to play long minutes in reserve grade in the halves not meaningless minutes out of position in first grade.

I reckon he gets more game time tomorrow now Api is out.
