Great pod again guys and an interesting discussion with who plays five eighth in the coming weeks.

I’m going to agree with Declan here and say, AD should slot straight back into the 6. To me as long as Starford and Jimmy hold their form they should hold down their positions. I honestly think Brooks goes to the bench where Madden is now. And then it’s play on from there. Don’t know where that keeps his current contract but I suppose time will tell.

I just need to see a number of improvements to AD's game as a 6.

In memory of Geoff Chisholm (1965-2022)

I agree that I'm not keen on AD going back to centres, he's our best player and needs to get his hands on the ball as often as possible.

Apparently he's put on a lot of muscle while he's been injured.

If be open to trialling him at lock,  with Hastings at 7 and Brooks 6.

Lock is really another half these days who can run into the line,  which is ADs strength.

Top 8 2023

Hopefully he’s working on his defence aswell. It’s a possibility for him to play lock but J.Off is finding a home. One things for sure it’s going to be an interesting month ahead.

I think Douhie plays lock centre or super sub at 14

Brooks can really only play 6 or 7 could play 9 at a pinch but not tested there

Douhie is hailed as the white knight by some however is yet to truly cement a position is it fullback centre five eighth or lock ? He is a better version of Mmbye

What Douhie has going for him is true versatility he can cover multiple positions. If we play him at centre then it solves a centre recruitment headache.

If we get on a roll and win 3 out of 4 or 4 out of 6 with Brooks and Hastings then why does Douhie deserve to slot straight back in at 6

Earn your place and if he needs to wait for injury to come back to 6 then so be it.

I have a suspicion if we dont play him where he wants at 6 then 2024 Bennett and the dolphins may come looking at him, they will be desperate and he has played under Benett before

I think it’s important to note that 2021 was AD’s first full season at 6 and he’s only 23 so obviously going to improve. Despite all this, he still managed to finish 8th in Daily M voting so imagine how good he could be with a dominant 7 in Hastings playing inside of him.

9 of those Dally M points came when he was playing centre 2 Motm a 2 and a 1 point..

he was nominated in the 5/8th position but his best games were playing centre..

Brooks still needs to be at 6, we need speed in that area. AD and Hastings seem a little slow to both play in the halves. Watching the game live last week, Parra were so much quicker than us in shifting the ball and their running halves engaging the defence. If AD plays 6, we will need to play more through the middle with his power running.
