It is game one of Luai v Cleary and it is Mid-week podcast time as Eddie and Garry are joined by regular guest Jordan to preview the game against the Panthers.
The boys are tasked with finding the 3 biggest positives since June 2024 at the Wests Tigers. What’s does the future hold for Benji Marshall? Should he be under pressure? Should the club prioritise re-signing Api over Tallyn De Silva?
Are the Tigers a chance of knocking over Penrith? What’s the change in the team the boys are most and least looking forward to? Plus, Yioti’s quiz.

Guys can we stop with this Benji being a “quasi coach” in 2023 talk. Fair dinkum, who in their right mind believes Benji Marshall walks into the club without having any prior coaching experience, and takes over the head coaching role despite Sheens being there. I get that Benji was probably having input but it would’ve taken probably half a season before he was solely responsible for what was going on. Those first 6 or 7 months would’ve been all about learning from Sheens and helping with the attack. As it stands right now Benji has probably only been in the Head Coaching role for 2 seasons. He’s certainly only had 2 preseasons as the Head Coach. In my opinion 2023 shouldn’t even be considered as he would’ve had little to do with the squad that played that year. He was probably making some decisions as the season wore on about who he might want or not want but it was essentially a squad he (and Sheens) were given.
Looks like many of the Pod team are like the club Soft! Getting fill ins they are a good listen . Maybe a win will bring back the outliers the soft underbelly of the Pod team !
Agree, i have seen people mention this regularly. Im pretty sure that Benji was not making any major decisions related to the team or recruitment. There is a reason he has basically cleaned out all of the Sheens aligned people that were in the club.Guys can we stop with this Benji being a “quasi coach” in 2023 talk. @russtutty63 My take on Marshall is when you look at the roster in full including reserve grade the guy is on a hiding to nothing… I am as frustrated as any supporter but believe if he can be given a decent roster with depth he could do well . I would be very happy with a mid table finish on the proviso that Richo gives Marshall something to work with .
I will concede to Eddie that a Football Manager with a lot of experience in the recruiting side of things might be advantageous. I don’t really know much about Matt Betsey, I think he’s done quite a bit with our pathways with Shannon Gallant but unsure if he had any prior experience in the NRL. Richo I think is part of it but I could see why another experienced figure might be able to help. But it’d have to be someone who wants to work with Benji & understand that the final say is his.

Matt Betsey set up the pathways at nsw cricket and cricket Australia and was brought to the Wests Tigers to re-establish the pathway systems.

Declan feels he can’t develop under our guidance.
Nick is suing us for bullying.
I’m like Richo - the invisible man 😂

I’ve only heard half the ep so far but am enjoying Jordan back behind the mic. The last I believe he was on we went on a winning streak (depending on how your treat the bye), so let’s hope it’s an omen of good things to come.
And how about this new Eddie. The last few eps he has been preaching about the footy gods and his newfound spirituality, and now he is dedicating a good 20mins of the show to positivity!! If I start hearing Nick and Garry give short answers then I’ll know the world has gone upside down.
Thinking about it a little more maybe it’s best that Api signs a big deal with the Bears and we bring through TDS in 27. Api deserves the pay day.
hey boys bit of feedback on latest pod, i have listened to every pod over the years, i must say Jordan is great, really liked his insight and knows heaps about the club, i reckon you get him on more, well done boys

Eddie’s a mystery wrapped in a riddle.
True about those wind bags Garry and Nick! 😂

How good would a pod be where no one spoke.
