We discussed this on the latest edition of the podcast - who gets the 13 jersey in place of Hastings?

Peachey and Ofahengue seem to be the leading contenders - two very different players.

I would think Peachey… but out of left field Maumalo 🤷‍♂️…we’ve got nothing to lose

Keep steering the right path

I think Peachey, given that we have gone down the path of a distributing/ball playing 13 and have been training this way and getting somewhere with it.

Plus we are short on middles as it is. Joe O needs to stay in the prop rotation, and also Peachey can jump into dummy half when needed.

Sheens spoke about playing a system throughout the club. Would assume that means peachey comes in as a ball playing creative lock rather than joffa as an extra prop in the middle

I'd be leaving 6&7 the same and bringing Matamua into the 13.

Peachy probably  if Hastings recovers well that’s his spot for next season the cupboard is bare in reserve grade , in certain positions the depth is an issue.

@avocadoontoast If Matamua is in the plans I suppose it makes sense to expose him to as much top grade as possible at this stage of the season.

He could certainly be eased into this, maybe share the role with Peachey.
The Origin game he played in was basically as a ball playing lock.

Peachey probably takes the role he can at least ball play keep Joffa at prop if Hastings will be at 13 next year. With Peachey at lock young matamua on bench keeps brown at 9. Was interesting liddle plahed some 13 in nsw cup on weekend not well mind you

I’m with @Garry on this one. I’d like to see Joffa back at Lock

I think it will be joffa , but geez I’d like to see matamua have a go . Considering that’s his preferred position so I’ve told .

What to do with the lock position is the most intriguing aspect of the coming rounds. I imagine they’ll want to continue with those new systems and structures, our attack is much improved with Tuilagi and Doueihi in particular looking dangerous on their edges.

Another option is to rotate Peachey and Nu Brown at lock, both can ball play and Peachey seems more disciplined and focused than earlier in the season, he’s an instinctive ad lib player who thrives on offloads and disrupted defensive lines. Bring in both Liddle and Simpkin to share the hooking role.

I feel Matamua is better suited to the lock role but they may want to go with the more experienced options. Matamua looked off the pace in his recent outing on the left edge. He’ll get another chance but I think he needs to play in the middle with a simple roll of tackling everything and carry the ball forward. It might be a bit early for him to fill that key ball distributor role, he needs to get used to the pace, rhythm and collisions of NRL first.

The front row rotation is going really well for us at the moment, with Jaffa leading the way, keep it going - more please.
