The 2026 season is finally over — and after the 38-10 loss to Penrith, the big question is:
ARE THE WESTS TIGERS ACTUALLY BETTER OFF THAN THEY WERE 12 MONTHS AGO?
Api says they are.

I enjoyed the podcast guys, especially the positivity about Latu -lets hope he takes his chance in 2027!
There was a chat about the injury toll this year compared to last year
By coincidence NRL physio just released the club by club figures

This data supports the point that Api tried to make in the final press conference - that he felt the team was going better this year compared to last year.
Penrith tend to have the least injuries of all clubs every year - which clearly contributes to their success. They only used 25 players in the 2026 regular season. We used 38 players.
Our admin needs to find at least 28 players that can be called upon for 2027. This tends to be around the average number most clubs use.
Very grateful for the content that is provided on this podcast and the forum. It is often the case of a disappointment shared is a disappointment halved for me. Thanks Nick, Josh and Joel for continuing to find news and bringing it to us and for staying as upbeat as anyone can possibly be as WT fan.
I appreciate the input of others on the forum and these stats provided by @mickb around our injuries for the season give some excuse and also highlight some concern re fitness, strength and conditioning of players. Its almost like we prepared for a 100m race only to find out we were entered In the 5000m instead. We ran out of puff.
Are we better than last year? I don't really know, but will we be better next year? That is my/our joyous hope throughout the off season.
