I'm sure there will only be 1 (C) or Joint (C's) on game day not 5..

All Clubs have leadership groups as well as multiple Captains.. this is nothing new..

Rorters have 3 Captains and 8 man Leadership Group as voted by their players.. so it can work..

Robinson revealed a new wave of leaders that were voted into the club’s leadership group in a bid to groom potential captains of the future to support James Tedesco and Keary.

“The leadership is a real key one because a few years ago we had six guys that were leading the way,” Robinson said.

“Aubusson, Friend, Cordner, Waerea-Hargreaves and Cronk. Those guys were our leaders and then we lost them all except Jared,

“What we have now is Teddy and Luke and Jared as our captains. But we have a group coming through in Victor Radley, Nat Butcher, Lindsay Collins, Joey Manu and Angus Crichton.

“They are the next wave that need to step up and support those other leaders. We just had a vote the other day and those guys came in so we are looking forward to bringing on the next generation of leaders as well.”

Duplicate.

This is the official release..

Still don’t like it. Captaincy by committee. Shows a lack of decision making ability by the club (not the players selected). Really sums up where the club at as whole, indecisive.

I think Madge painted himself into a corner with his last 2 captains, nice fellas and good off the field, but he was reticent to make any change when it was clear they were the wrong psychological fit.Perhaps a little loss of face on his part was the reason he stuck with Moses Mbye, hoping for him to come good.In the heat of battle Mbye and Tamou proved both pretty passive.

Until AD returns,I don’t mind too much the shared responsibility.Could be a shot in the arm for the team but I think it will become ultimately evident who the natural leader is.

I think all it is really doing is pandering to factions within the team and the club. The old guard following Brooks, the new guard following Doueihi and then there is the new outsiders.

We need a dictator on the field who is not afraid to get up blokes that are just too comfortable. Additionally they need to be able to walk the walk and not just talk about it.

Im going to go against the grain and say i really like it. In any organisatiom you want as much leadership as you can get.

I think this way you have 5 guus striving to really step up and lead and all bring something different.

Tamou brings great experience bit also prob in his last yr an elder statesman and will drive leadership amongst the front rowers. Peachey continues our focus on growing our indigenous players and also the backrowers plus has a lot of experience.

Maumalo again a test player and will work well with the outside backs and the kiwi players of which we have a lot.

Brooks is our halfback and most experienced tigers player and a local junior

Doeuhi is injured which meant he couldnt be a single captain but is prob the future of the role.

They all being different elements both in onfield and off field leadership and as such will prob take on different areas of focus throughout the year.

Now onfield their will be some taking more responsibility and different roles and the club will see their strenghts.

Thanks for your post @boonboon

I always enjoy listening to the contrary point of view.

I agree that it motivates a better number of players to take on that personal responsibility of leading the team, and in a team devoid of leadership, we need as many players as we can get to work harder run this space.

We've all debated who the captain should be while AD is injured and there is no obvious alternative. So this approach can make sense in our situation.

I'm surprised Twal and Hastings aren't included. It said it was player selected - which is interesting.

With things where they are - I'm all for trying things outside the box.

Top 8 2023

Wonder what will have the greatest number at the end of the season, the leadership group or the win column

I think is fascinating given the group was voted on by the players. The fact that Ken and Peachey were voted in but noffa wasn’t speaks volumes. I think personally both noffa and brooks need to move on.

I think having multiple people share the captaincy is a cop out.
