His defence was definitely missed this year.

This is my whole point about our recruitment and retention. We replace players, we don’t build. Losing Eisenhuth did not result in us growing the roster. Our defence was weaker as you say. Papalii is a great signing but it’s cost us Leilua. We needed both to be seen as growing our roster

It’s a good point but I do see Papali’i as a big upgrade on Leilua. The sort of money Leilua wanted is really top line back rower money, and I don’t think he has the motor or the defence to warrant it. I’m hopeful we’ll see good things from Blore and Tuilagi this upcoming season.

At least with Papalili it is an upgrade and not just a replacement.

It is ridiculous that we got Papalil'i for $600k while Leilua scored $700k, that man just won the lotto.

I agree withyour points @avocadoontoast  and @garry . We just can’t keep losing first grade standard players as soon as we sign one. We don’t have enough at that standard. But yeah, don’t know the answer because Leilua not worth 700K

Its crazy mate, its not even overs by a little. It is too much by around $150-200k

I reckon Darren Senter should get a mention.

Laffranchi is also somewhat the forgotten man of the 05 team.

Honorable mention for Simon Dwyer too who contributed a lot in his 35 games for us.

Darren senter is to me the obvious one from our early years. Very underrated.

I don’t think boof was underrated. Played for nsw and aus. Was on that trajectory when he was here, just a pity he left.

Senter was a tough player that is for sure.

I really liked what ET added when he first came across to the club, his link play at 1st receiver allowing Brooks and Moses to play a little wider had us playing the best football I have seen us play in the last 10 years.

@kenny4517 Always worked hard in defence but I was starting to worry about his head knocks. Felt the same in Hodgo's last season.

Corey Thompson was underrated by many. Had more pros than cons and always put in 100%
