@yanni Further to that the whole club is soft even Richo (I think he still is at the club ) there is no Eye of the Tiger anymore right through the club the whole place is soft!
Its becoming quite obvious that the old school hard head coaches are a thing of the past. Its more of a touchy feely social media world and coaches like Madge, Hasler, Sheens even Robinson to a certain extent, don't really understand how to connect with the younger generation, and will be found out. I think Madge's issue is his assistants are also older guys like Barret who cant connect with the younger players. If you look around the successful teams the assistants include younger guys that have only recently finished playing.
@tiger_alex No. In Benji YOU trust.
Yeah I do and I don't mind stating my opinion.
Benji is a club legend and has already shown this season what improvements the team has made.
Just a shame it was derailed a little bit by a spoilt little brat.
Just my humble opinion.

Let’s what the rest of 2025 looks like, and recruiting for 26, make or break time I think.

No to Brad Arthur. Yes to staying steady with Benji. The players continually say how much they like being coached by Benji so I would not move him on but would like to see more/better coaching resources under him.
Can we get a motivational coach to talk to the team before they run out? Especially after a bye!
Problem with this is if you replace Benji with another inexperienced coach it will likely end the same way. Our club does not have the resources of a Bulldogs or a Parramatta to support a younger less experienced coach. Not sure how Sharks do it as they are in a dire financial position and TBH the jury is still out on Parramatta being a success under Ryles, take Moses and Lomax (who were both developed under a different coach) out of that team and they are certainties for the wooden spoon.@dirty-reds I agree that the club needs to resist resurrecting any has-been coaches (as they did with Sheens) IF Marshall is not viable into the future. Josh Hannay seems to be the flavour of the month in that regard. No idea of other assistants in club land at the moment, other than those we don't want; Trent Barrett, Justin Holbrook etc.
That kinda reinforces my point. Whilst coaches obviously have impact on a team's fortune, they are limited by the quality of their squad ultimately. We could have Bellamy or Jack Gibson reincarnate coaching us at the moment, and they'd still be struggling to get results given the current squad.
Agreed, however there are coaches that can get a squad to overachieve i.e. Bennet for QLD and Dolphins, although the current coach seems to have turned them in the right direction again. I think if you had a Bennet or Bellamy coaching this squad and coaching staff they would probably win a few more games however might still miss the 8.Problem with this is if you replace Benji with another inexperienced coach it will likely end the same way. So, it seems we agree that Marshall is doing a decent job with a squad lacking depth of talent. Fair enough.
But, with salary cap space that WT should have, the heat really needs to be turned up on Richardson now and find out what he is capable of doing to strengthen that talent.
I'm willing to give Benji the rest of the season and potentially the first half of next season to deliver. For Richo well he has 3 1/2 weeks to release the pressure valve that is building regarding this squad and especially our depth. this can go 2 ways, he weaves his magic and gets us 2 first grade ready players for the remainder of this season, and/or he dazzles us with at least 3 great players that move the dial for 26. The 2 for this season will buy him more time to deliver the 3 (at least) for 26. I'm willing to cop a bit of a hit for the remainder of 25 if we have exceptional talent coming in 26.So, it seems we agree that Marshall is doing a decent job with a squad lacking depth of talent. People are forgetting why Marshall is the coach. No one else wanted the job! If we get rid of a club legend who has improved the team then who in their right mind would want to coach the Tigers? As for Richo, he can't just make players come to us.
We keep cycling through coaches and saying "Get rid of him and get the next bloke, then we have to be patient with him". Now is that patient time with Benji. We knew it would take a LONG time to turn this club around.
@canberratiger I’m not sure no one else wanted the job, probably there was only a small number of people that wanted to work under Sheens (who appeared to be here at least 5 years).
Regardless, yes, patience is required - but how do you get the fans to buy into that after three spoons?

I know we are no longer privy to everything happening in recruitment, however I see no evidence whatsoever that we’re genuinely looking at mid-season external recruitment options.

Wasn't Sheens brought back because no one wanted the job?
Great question about the fans but we can't keep churning through coaches, then coaching staff and then overturning rosters so they are that coaches roster every few years.
No one wanted the job under the old board and management...I wonder if that would be different now. Not that I want to replace Benji...just curious.
