This year they had six captains - next season they face a dilemma finding one.
That's the situation facing Wests Tigers as the 2023 countdown begins.
With a host of players coming and going, there is no standout skipper for incoming coach Tim Sheens.
But Sheens insists the club has plenty of good leadership material and he will address the crucial issue next month.
"There have been a fair few changes to the roster but we have several players more than capable of doing the job," Sheens told Wide World of Sports.
"I will talk to the players and management and get their input before making a call next month."
Last year the Tigers appointed a five-man captaincy group - James Tamou, Luke Brooks, Tyrone Peachey, Adam Doueihi and Ken Maumalo, while Jackson Hastings also led the team during the season.
Tamou, Peachey and Hastings have gone, Brooks is under massive pressure to get his own game right while Maumalo is on the comeback trail from a serious knee injury.
That leaves Doueihi as the favourite for the job, although forwards Joe Ofahengaue and Stefano Utoikamanu may also come in to consideration.
Big signing Api Koroisau will be a key man in leading the Tigers around the field, although being new to the club he is unlikely to be considered for the captaincy role.

Well hopefully we have ourselves a leader come early January. It’s unfortunate that our obvious leader is now playing in red and blue. My next choice would be Douehi, but I’m not sure how long he’ll be around. Therefore I’m hoping on an appointment of Joe Ofhengaue and maybe Brooks for when he’s off the field. This year they had six captains - next season they face a dilemma finding one.

Joe O’fahengaue is leadership material there’s no doubt about that and deserves to be Captain.
Adam Doueihi was exposed this year as to what a poor leader he would make and should not even be considered for the job.
Noone really screams leader. I don't think Joffa should be captain. Captain should be an 80 minute player and i'm not sure Joffa will even be in the starting 13. Definitely can't be Brooks, any sort of pressure and he goes to water.
I'd be going for Api or Bateman.
@tiger5150 doesn't play 80 mins though you would need a co captain if you went with Joffa.
I am sick of having new recruits as captain e.g. Moses Mmbye, so would rule out Api
Happy to have Joffa with either Brooks or Douhie as co captains with him

we came last. Would have thought someone from a winning culture would be just what we need for captain. Can’t have your captain coming off the bench.
I'll be happy if we get a captain who'll stand up to the refs and won't let our guys get bullied by players who operate on the fringe of the rules like JWH and big Nelson.
No co captain rubbish. One captain and one vice captain. I know it’s an usual idea but hear me out.
Joffa for Captain and a back for VC. Only when Jof is off does the VC get a say.
If we get Moses not him. If we don’t then Douy or for the lack of other quality Brooks.
But seriously it should just be Brooks as captain but it’s not in him. He gets owned by the refs.
I'm not sure how the Captain is chosen but, more than anything we forum-ers want, who the players want should take priority. The miracle that was 2005 was, IMO, strongly influenced by the Sheens move (yes, I am praising a Sheens decision!!) to replace Mark O'Neil as Captain with Scott Prince. There's scant evidence of any Sheens brilliance in the 17 years since, but getting the (C) next to the name of the right person could be significant again in 2023.
Not too sure on Api as being captain! He’s only been here 5 minutes and it hasn’t gone well our last 2 skippers when the c has been put upon them. Bateman isn’t even a tiger yet 🤷♂️Noone really screams leader. I don't think Joffa should be captain. Captain should be an 80 minute player and i'm not sure Joffa will even be in the starting 13. the only person from last year that’s showed any element of leadership is joffa, but can’t have a bench player as captain imo. Better to have a captain that knows what winning looks like. I consider both Bateman and Api to have good leadership attributes.
Announcement must be coming soon. Who we tipping?
Joe Ofahengue/Luke Brooks duo my tip.
