Jimmy the jet was much maligned last year.Every game he tried to make things happen, but with little opportunity. He never received good early clean ball.Give the guy some room and play to your strengths.

That sounds like a post I would write.

Early ball doesn't always help ...his inside men and the decoys need to create holes for the outside men and get that defence 2nd guessing what they will see ....defences are so used to seeing that 2nd man ..2nd man play ...hit flat runners ...Brooks running with intensity and putting the inside / outside defenders on notice ....

It is really about developing a game plan that puts your players in situation that suit their strengths or targets opposition weaknesses, for me have been really poor in this regard. I think the block plays that infiltrated the game for 10 years have played a role in that and we have adjusted poorly to a game that relies less on that than in the past.

In the modern game you need to get the defence on the back foot and we have been incredibly poor at that for a long time.

Brooks had a good 6 week run last year when he was showing inside before playing out and that created space for his running and outside men but once defences adjusted to that he was lost again.

In memory of Geoff Chisholm (1965-2022)

Love to see us really try and hit teams directly after turnovers ...good way of catching defences out and giving our outside backs room and time
