twitter Rumours we have lost Onitoni Large would think to union
With this chatter and the talk of Penrith wanting Stefano, really shows how hard it is to build a team up from the scrap heap. There's zero protection or reward for producing your own, and you're continually open to losing any of your pathways players long before they even make FG.
I can't see it every changing, but it's a real issue for the sport. Even the AFL does this better.
(And yes I'm aware Stefano was poached from Parra in similar circumstances.)
sound the alarm.
I wouldn't be surprised (or blame him) if Stefano exited to Penrith or elsewhere. There is clear evidence in the impact of Brooks, Blore, Talau (and numerous others over the years) on their new clubs and in different systems, that WT just don't cut it in terms of developing and sustaining talent. Instead, WT are seen as, IMO, the club for excessive payments for mediocre or limited talent that the other clubs are happy to offload. While respecting contractual arrangements, why would elite players stick around when their financial and career prospects are better elsewhere?
Chammas reporting Penrith after Stef for next year. Can’t blame them
stef is a great replacement for Penrith, will madge pick stef in Origin... very unlikely

If Stef keeps playing at this level then he is in with a chance.

The big question is why he hasn’t re-signed already.

He isn't officially off contract until the end of next season.

Good to see all the eternal optimism being expressed!
I believe we’re pretty well placed to retain Stefano.Given what Benji has achieved thus far, the young talent surfacing and the fact our interim CEO has presided over meaningful decision making, surely there’s more than a little blue sky appearing from the dark times. It’s palpable and there for everyone to see from our on field efforts thus far this season.I don’t understand the overt pessimism given the shift that has been generated.Surely there is cause for optimism when witnessing a little Galvin/Bula magic,or Api artistry and sleight of hand. For mine the glass is definitely half full even after a mediocre display at Campbelltown on Sunday.

There’s plenty to be positive about, plenty to be concerned about. Sunday made plenty of us realise just how far off we are, however, that was last week and with a better team this week things might look a bit brighter (taking into account we’re up against three time premiers).

Madge won’t pick him out of spite.
Great way to ruin your coaching career.

@mercy-rule there’s heaps of spite, I think Madge is a complete dud. Sheens was a complete dud when he came back too. Get over it.

he is playing well for us but he has to play 2 games out if the 3 doesnt he ?
think madge picks
Jake T in front of him
Hass if fit
maybe Paulo ? maybe RCG ? Saifiti ?
On form in the last 5 games, I think Stefano should be picked, however it will be make or break for him re NSW in the next 2 weeks vs Penrith and Broncos. If he dominates (even in a losing team) than Madge will be forced to pick him. Madge's grudge is more than likely with the old management, now those clowns have moved on it would be very petty of him to punish Stef to get back at the tigers.
IMO we shouldnt be relying on Madge to pick Stef to get him to stay. We should be getting him excited about being part of the club, offer him the top end of what he is worth and put a pen in his hand. as important as Luai for the rebuild
