it's an exciting time to be a tigers fan
Seeing how the warriors have signed Volkman from the roosters. To go with Metcalf, good signings. Thoughts about CHT ?

Perhaps my post should have been under another topic but Forums are about creating discussion.
Everything you've all said summarises what a dilemma these sort of roster decisions are.
As you all point out paying a player to play against you is going to diminish the remaining teams ability to be competitive in the short term.
Going down this route involves a stomach for loses unfortunately.
The main point I am trying to get across is the hit to the salary cap is done, whilst the player is playing here it is 100% on us. Think Russell Packer.
In certain instances if someone else is even willing to pay a small percentage than that money may be the difference in resigning a prospect who may or may not turn out to be a future star.
Hopefully in the future good roster management will mean reaching a point where these decisions are even contemplated will be few and far between.
@helmesy the floor in that player test is I believe those competitions do not have a salary cap ? please correct me if I am wrong with NFL and NBA.
so you need to take into account who you are offloading at what price to play elsewhere that eats into your available cap space to replace them with
All in $USD for year 2022
NFL salary cap- $208.2 million
NHL salary cap- $82.5 million
NBA salary cap- $122 million
MLB luxury tax- $230 million. This means if a team spends over $230 million on payroll,
they have to pay tax on the money spent over which is distributed to teams not exceeding the luxury tax.
Tax rates are for each $20 million over $230 million, 20%, 32%, 62.5%, 80% for $290 million and above.
For perspective most teams treat the $230 million as a cap but the New York Mets are expected the exceed the $290 million threshold and will be paying an 80% tax to other clubs.

No thanks. Not even an improvement on Brooks
Taukiauho signed with Catalans ...how does the NRL sides let a bloke that is as good as he is go to the ESL
Someone on our other forum saying Brooks to Knights on again.
Swap with Klemmer being mentioned.
who knows?
I would take that. We need an experienced leader up front.
Agree, Klemmer for Brooks 👍
Word is Klemmers knees are almost fried ......no thanks

Jarrod Wallace, Paul Vaughan would be better. Yes one comes with baggage but it could be his last chance in the NRL.
@anygivensunday so they can go over the salary cap they just need to pay tax on it ?
still think the idea of having 800k in your cap (Brooks mmbye) playing elsewhere not a good idea as that cheap 300k player is really 700k due to the fact you need to cost the money already going out of the cap
Full freight for Brooks is a different story
@unhappy-tiger anyone else at Newcastle we can go for ?
