I feel Connor Tracey , and maybe one of the manly halves are the most likely to pry open . Maybe one of the Warriors halves , but not for 2023 .
There just simply isn’t any career reserve grade halves anymore.
Theres no Cody Walker type 24 year old biding his time in reserve grade. Maybe Brayden Trindall , but he seems happy as first drop at the sharks .
I wasn’t impressed by Hawkins today. Looked too timid and didn’t take the line on at all. It was a good example of the risk in having two junior halves.
I'm not saying Hawkins is any sort of answer to our issues, but I will say we can't judge him on today. He was playing 6, and clearly struggled to find his way into the game. It would have been much better to judge if he was half and Walker 5/8.
Souths tried to keep there structure the same with Hawkins replacing Walker. That was never gonna work. Hawkins is an organising 7, not a two pass wide creator.

Hawkins would be worth a shot at 7 if we can get him this year better than will Smith

what I don’t understand is why you would give up so much $ to sit in reserve grade for a “good” team when your NRL career is so short. Give up a few years and that adds up very quickly.
Ok. Any views on Jerome Luai? Free to talk Nov 1. Is he a million dollar player?

if trindall bides his time he replaces moylan
@doug-heffernan fair call, I must admit I haven’t watched him closely and I’m basing my impressions on one game. Looks like we will get a good look at him over next few weeks though so it will be interesting to see if he steps up.
Dogs have told Averillo and Alimoti they are free to look elsewhere. We should be trying to get one or both.
Averillo has already had discussions with the club.
